I am currently available for video-based therapy. I have specialized training in coping with illness, grief & loss, as well as anxiety and depression. I can help you during this difficult time. I am a psychologist in private practice in Pennington, NJ. I received my doctorate in clinical psychology from Widener University in 1990.

Since then, I have worked with many clients with a variety of life problems. I genuinely enjoy my work, and pride myself on being an effective, caring clinician. I have a general practice, and work with clients on a variety of problems, ranging from general life stress to serious mental illness.
Services
I work with a wide range of emotional and behavioral issues providing services that span from therapy for depression and grief counseling to parenting support, couples counseling and beyond. In a comfortable and supportive atmosphere, I offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each of my clients individual needs to help attain the personal growth they're striving for.
My treatment orientation is grounded in the idea that our present difficulties are caused by "stuck" ways of feeling, thinking, reacting and relating. Sometimes we get stuck because of difficult past experiences. Sometimes we get stuck because of our own family thinking, reacting and perceiving.

Once we understand how we are stuck, it can free us to develop new ways of handling problems that can leave us happier, more content and more effective in the world. When working with clients, I bring a balance of insight, experience, warmth and practicality. I have an interactive style, and believe in offering helpful feedback and suggestions, while also providing careful, respectful listening.

I had an initial session with Lise Deguire, Psy.D. soon after my long-term psychologist moved far from my home. When I first called to inquire, I informed Lise Deguire that I have bipolar disorder type 1 and issues with anxiety. During our meeting, I spent 10 minutes filling out paperwork. She then asked approximately six questions. I mentioned my main therapy goals and that I was currently on disability. I was definitely not in crisis, and she even said that I was a “pleasant woman”. At the end, she stated that she would be unable to accept me as a client because she felt I needed a therapist

I felt comfortable with Dr. Deguire from the first time I met her. Very warm and smart. She has helped me through some very tough times. She is supportive but also helps you change what you need to change.
