I have been teaching Pilates for over 24 years & I love what I do! I am a mom of 2 teens & I am a retired dancer. I enjoy working with beginners & challenging the pros! I am also certified in Stecco Fascial Manipulation Level II. With my Pilates background & FM certification, I will do a full assessment on your first session of your body's strengths, needs, imbalances, & discuss your goals.

Located in our new home in the heart of Soho, in a beautiful loft that is a fully equipped classical Pilates studio. The studio has been designed with a clean, simple modern sensibility that enhances the old-fashioned charm of a traditional Soho loft space. Airy and light-filled, the ambience at Grasshopper Pilates Nyc is warm, gracious and welcoming, although the workout is functional, serious and challenging.
Gina Papalia - Studio Owner, Second Generation Teacher & The Pilates Standard Teacher Trainer lives in New York City with her husband and teenagers. Gina was introduced to Pilates at college while she was dancing at SUNY Purchase.
She fell in love with Pilates and began her certification training in January of 1995, under Romana Kryzanowska, Bob Liekens, and Carol Dodge Baker after she graduated from SUNYPurchase with a BFA in Fine Arts and Dance.Then, she moved to New York City, danced most of her career with the Dance Theatre of Harlem, while completing her Pilates training at Drago's with Romana and The Pilates Studio with Bob.

Pilates is an exercise method based on the work of Joseph Pilates. Its focus is on strengthening the "powerhouse" (abs, buttocks, and inner thighs) to execute the exercises which are designed to strengthen muscles, increase flexibility and improve posture. Pilates will lengthen and strengthen your muscles with-out the bulk.

Love this Soho Pilates studio! Owner Gina is one of my favorite teachers, it's as though she can already tell what's going on with your body when you walk in! The rest of her teachers that I took with are great too, all of them classically trained and very professional. You'll definitely get a good workout at this place!
