The Traditional Martial Arts Center is located in Etowah, NC just outside of Hendersonville. We provide lessons in Shito-Ryu and Aiki-Jujitsu for both adults and children, Tai Chi, Meditation, Chi Kung, Traditional Kobudo, and Self Defense. We offer day and night classes and also offer private lessons and Self-Defense courses at an additional cost.
Shito-Ryu is both a hard and soft style and gets its arts of self-defense from Aiki-Jujitsu and Goshin Jitsu. The style was created as a traditional, non-competitive style, meaning that the training is primarily directed towards the practice of self-defense, as opposed to other styles that were created as a sport with its training primarily directed towards competition.
The Traditional Martial Arts Center presents their Little Ninja's, Kids with Kick and Junior Leaders classes. Martial arts for children 3-15 years old. We teach the art of Shito-Ryu. The style is a traditional, non-competitive, Japanese art with a focus on self-defense. The self-defense is designed with the children in mind.
A low-intensity exercise, Tai Chi enhances balance and body awareness through slow, rhythmic body movements. It teaches proper posture and breathing techniques beneficial to your health. It does not matter your age, sex, size or limitations because anyone can participate. The class is designed to provide a comfortable, relaxing, stress-free environment to aid in a person's growth physically, mentally and spiritually.
According to ancient Okinawan legend, Karate had its beginnings in India with a Buddhist monk named Daruma. Tradition says that Daruma traveled across the Himalayan Mountains from India to the Shaolin Temple in Honan Province of China. There he began teaching the other monks his philosophies of physical and mental conditioning.

This is a well ran school with instructors that are personable, friendly and most importantly, know their arts. a very good blend of traditional martial arts with modern concepts. This school hosts numerous workshops and seminars, so if you "don't do" martial arts on a daily basis, but still want to learn for self protection....check them out!

As a parent i could not ask for a better place for my son to attend an after school program. The kids have fun and also a very structured environment to complete their homework and reading assignments. Both my son and myself also take advantage of the kids with kick and adult karate classes which are an awesome way to better yourself mentally and physically, not to mention making new friends as you go!
