Seedlings To Sunflowers
Seedlings to Sunflowers is a high-quality non-profit school with a unique and progressive approach to early education and child development. As a childcare and family center we are available to all members of the family and act as catalyst to community building. We believe in a holistic approach to child development incorporating academics, physical and nutritional wellness and play.

We foster the belief that every child presented with the opportunity to belong, develop independence, cultivate generosity and master skills will develop a healthy sense of self and that their ability to succeed academically will be enhanced. Our Directors and Co-founders collectively have experience in Social Work (LCSW), Nutrition & Culinary Art.
Services
Experiential Learning, developed by David Kolb and informed by Piaget, recognizes that knowledge is continuously gained through both personal and environmental experiences. Children are active and engaged learners; constantly researching and experiencing the world in order to make sense of their environments.
Our before and aftercare program is going to offer center-based activities. Children will get dropped off and will have a chance to come in, wash hands and settle down for snack. After snack time there will be a choice of three activities - these will take place outside when possible or in the multipurpose room.
The Nursery Wing is broken down into two groups: 6 weeks-9 months and 9-19 months. Each room is focused on establishing routines that meet the individual child's and family's needs. Feeding and sleeping routines are established through close collaboration with caregivers. Daily visits are welcomed and encouraged!
The Sprouts Room is for our 2-3 year old children. This classroom is focused on an understanding of the social, cognitive, emotional and physical needs of the children. Children in this classroom are introduced to our center-based learning curriculum and are kept busy with different experiential learning opportunities throughout the day.
This room is for our 3-4 year old children and encompasses the core of our Experiential Learning Model. This room uses centers to explore and learn about content areas such as language arts, reading, writing, science, math and music. The children in this room begin to participate in our garden-to-table and culinary program and spend a significant amount of time exploring the greenhouse and outside spaces.

Seedlings is such a great childcare facility in Gorham! The teachers are professional, the classrooms are clean and neat, the kids play outside every day and get to garden, and they're taking covid very seriously and check temps at the door every morning and again at lunch for each child and staff. They have been great at daily communication as well. I love the app they use to show updates of your kids in the moment and upload pictures as well- always look forward to the updates each day around noon time!

It's been amazing watching the center grow, they have a great program and philosophy. Love every one of them, as my son gets to see a lot of different teachers, not just his class. I've experienced many daycares now due to moving and I dont worry about my son here. He's learning respectful behavior, learning new foods and making new friends both young and older. Of course he gets the obvious experience with words, arts, music and play but this center is so much more than that!

This is where my daughter goes to daycare. My wife and I discovered this place while it was under construction and we were expecting. We met with one of the founders, Marissa, and did not need to search any further. The Center was custom built to be a daycare near the Mercy Urgent Care facility on purpose. The staff is phenomenal and they are working hard to set the bar for the best daycare center around. Their focus is on teaching the next generation about being responsible, respectful and part of the community, not just providing a place for the kids to hang out.
