Every child needs a safe place to learn, grow, and play. As a parent, you want a day care and learning center that provides loving and compassionate care and encourages growth and development. At Building Blocks Learning Center, everything we do is focused on your child's needs. We are part of a community outreach program through the Thornton Heights United Methodist Church.

Trust our day care center to give your child what he or she needs to succeed! Our staff strives to provide your child with love and personal attention as well as an educational and developmentally appropriate experience. We have programs for toddlers, preschoolers, and school-age children. Parents in South Portland, ME and Scarborough, ME depend on us for child care, and you can too.
Services
Building Blocks Learning Center is a community outreach program of the Thornton Heights United Methodist Church. Founded in 1987, our goal is to provide compassionate child care services for our local community. Today, our educational center also focuses on academic and social development. Our staff creates an environment where children can grow, play, and learn.
At Building Blocks Learning Center, we provide programs for children of all ages. Our teacher-to-student ratio is low to ensure every child receives the personalized attention that he or she needs. We offer part-time and full-time programs as well as before and after school child care. Our toddler care program helps children grow and develop while surrounded by compassionate staff and other children.
Building Blocks Learning Center is a day care offering full time, part time, and hourly care programs as well as before and after school care for families who need additional services. We proudly serve families in the South Portland, ME and Scarborough, ME areas. We accept State subsidy programs such as ASPIRE.

I worked here for about two months and did not feel I was given the respect I deserved. I was in a car accident and hospitalized. They fired me because of this. In a way I was relieved they fired me because it was always stressful going to work due to the unfriendly and hypocritical staff. I feel bad for the children there, I felt I was the only teacher that would actually play with the children.

The best place in South Portland/Scarborough for day care, preschool, and school aged kids. Don't let the looks fool you - it may be in the basement of a church but your kids will be loved, cared for, and given tons of chances to learn and play. They have a large yard and it's perfect for kids to run around, dig, ride bikes, and a million other things. It feels like the back yard at a large family gathering, with kid of all ages playing. If you want your kids to be in brand new centers with (tiny) new playgrounds, this isn't your place. We did that and found that the revolving door of care givers
