What are Academies? Academies are small learning communities within a school that draw on the interests of students in career-related subjects. Studies have shown that students who participate in the academy model are more motivated to continue to post- secondary education. Academies prepare students for post-secondary education and careers through academic learning and hands-on work experiences within a theme-based, contextualized curriculum.
The BioMedical Academy is designed to provide students with the highest quality of specialized vocational education, preparation, and training in their respective area of interest. We strive to develop and nurture knowledgeable, highly skilled, and compassionate individuals who demonstrate sound ethical and professional practices.
The Design and Arts Academy aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring students who will learn traditional skills and state-of-the-art technology through rigorous content and challenging learning experiences. Graduated from here back in 2017 and it's not a bad school. I highly recommend every kid to try and get into honor, AP, dual enrollment, or all the above. I didn't start taking AP classes until my senior year (after I started getting it together the previous year) and now that I've been through most of college, I can say confidently those classes would've helped me get my AA much sooner. Also, the kids in those classes tend to be the ones you want associate yourself with. Those kids tend to be more mature for their age, therefore, a little less typical high school drama. I personally made the mistake

The people here are being WAY to overdramatic, the teachers and staff have been the KINDEST to me and helped me succeed. And the kids are nothing but nice to you. And the shoving applies to every kids because the hallways are pretty small so when the whole building comes down the stairs and hallways of course your gonna get pushed around. And yes the kids may talk about drugs and stuff but they NEVER ever bring it to school. And all the academies are great every teacher cares maybe the old ones for fired or resigned who know but right now, the school is being run great there is no reason you shouldn’t

Worst school I’ve ever been to. I’m so happy I transferred to Braddock. Teachers are utterly careless and spend time talking about what they do in their freetime instead of teaching. Favoritism is BIG in this school, and students talk about flirting with a teacher just to get a higher grade?! I tried my best to be positive in this school, but I could not be positive at all. I have a hearing disorder and I got made fun of for it. The IB program here is terrible. Teachers will assign tests that have nothing to do with what they tell you to study. Electives teachers do not care at all. The only

If you involve yourself in a group that supports you and your academics, because they also care, then you should not have a problem. Every school, public or private, attempts to do their best with their staff and students, but you should not judge a whole school according to partial misunderstandings from someone else's experience. Everyone will have their own different interpretations of the school. If you think this school suits your academic goal, then do not worry about the rest of the crowd and do what you have to do to get where you want to be.

The worse experience ever, they don't have a good organization for the students' papers, they make parents to wait 1 to 2 hours to take care of their questions. Barely let you know how is your son or daughter doing at school. They even don't inform on time if a student is skipping class. And some of the students are rude with the new ones mostly if the new students come from another country calling them "refugees". The academic achievement is very low they don't require/demand to much of the students capabilities is lack of exigencies.
