The professional staff at Family Counseling Center have extensive training and experience working with individuals, adolescents and children, families and couples. In addition, our center offers an inclusive and wide range of counseling, consultation, and assessment for our clients, including but not limited to ADHD/ADD evaluation, anger and psychological assessments, both self-referred and court ordered.

Family Counseling Center is locally-owned and operated in Buffalo, MN. Since our company opened in 1984, we've partnered with our clients as they have walked through their unique life experiences in an effort to find hope and healing. We accept most major insurance carriers. It is your responsibility to contact your insurance provider to verify your mental health benefits.
Alex Macalena, a Licensed Psychologist, graduated with a Masters of Science degree and Post Masters degree (School Psychology/Child Psychology) from Saint John's University in Queens, New York. He has been licensed to practice Psychology in the State of Minnesota since 1983. After working as a Licensed School Psychologist for the Buffalo, Delano, and Rockford school districts, Alex opened Family Counseling Center in 1984.
As a clinic, we accept most major insurances. The acceptance of specific insurances can vary among individual providers. Please contact your insurance company prior to beginning services to determine your eligibility. Our staff is also available to assist you. Confidentiality is considered a high priority for our clients.
