Hawkins has been a 2nd home to our dancer. Besides the amazing training she has received and the exciting experiences she has been able to take part in, the teachers have instilled in her a great sense of confidence and love for the art form. We could not be happier that we chose to spend the last 10 years at Hawkins with our daughter!.

If you’re looking for a place for your child/kid to receive the foundational training they need to become a technical dancer, in addition to understanding the importance of the art of performing, this is the studio for you! We love it here and cannot recommend it enough!

The studio is absolutely beautiful. They offer many styles of dance and other performing arts, have lots of dance floors open at the same time for instruction. The teachers are knowledgeable, wonderful and very caring of their students and the owner, Miss Deidra Hawkins (who by the way is also a teacher) is very organized and she is just amazing. Even though it's a big studio, you feel very welcomed and you feel like it's a big family. Everyone is very helpful.

The teachers are all okay and i love the way they are opening up to teenagers teaching for more experience. The tap company has a problem with their teachers and has lost 4 in 5 years, Joanna Summerhayes was the last before marissa tidrick and was fired because she was having an inappropriate affair with a student's father. Then she proceeded to take all of the Hawkins rap troupe dancers to start her own studio. The jazz company ran by Jacob Gutierrez-Montoya is favorited by the studio owner and gets many privileges that other companies do not. The recital tickets are very expensive. The

We have been loyal customers of this studio for years with multiple members of my family dancing there and on different companies/troupes. For the first several years things were good, we had a rocky situation when a director left mid season but was replaced by a very talented teacher and choreographer so I believe that they handled that situation well. We were satisfied with the teachers for the most part-there are some very amazing ones who are just delightful-and some who are not as much.
We were content for a few more years until, surprise we had another company director change. The studio

Let me start by saying, if i could give a less than one star review, i would. no doubt. i started dancing at hawkins three years ago. within my first season, the tap company director left out of the blue. we were put through random substitute teachers until we finally were able to find a new director, joanna summerhayes. joanna is phenomenal. she took our tap company (which had totally fallen apart at the loss of our last director) and made a show out of what was left and let out teams thrive. joanna cares so much about the growth of every one of her students and treated us like her own children

This is a beautiful facility. Carrie and Kristin in the office are ever so friendly and helpful. They have a station in the lobby that sells food and drinks (although it is not open enough).
The teachers range from experienced professional choreographers to teenagers with little to no teaching experience. Class fees are the same no matter what teacher you have. Highly recommend Tessa for jazz and Emily for hip hop. Teacher retention is an issue--tap program is working with 4th director in the 5 years we have been there.

My daughter started dancing at Hawkins when she was 3 1/2 years old and this week she turns 16. The wonderful teachers and staff at Hawking School of Performing Arts have not only taught her an incredibly wide array of dance styles, but they have given her countless intangibles. She is boldly confident, superbly creative and has learned how to set goals and attain them.
I should mention that I am my daughter's dad. Way back when she was 3 1/2 I was unsure about her studying dance but now I am so thankful that she became a Hawkins' student. They have helped to make my daughter an amazing

My daughter had been attending here for 10 years and I will say that the school is great place if ur kid have a passion for dancing. Parents are helpful specially when there are shows and events. Their costumes are not too much for the dancers as well as some of the dance moves. Don't like the politics that much but all in all this is a good dance school.

Hawkins is the premier dance and performing arts academy in Folsom and the greater Sacramento area. There is no better place to train. If you want your son or daughter to have the most well rounded and fulfilling experience as a young artist then make the right choice and enroll them at Hawkins. You will not be disappointed. I can not say enough good things about this school.

My children love Hawkins. The studio is family friendly and my children who are waiting for a sibling in class have comfortable, quiet spaces to work on homework.
The teachers are enthusiastic, and carefully trained to ensure that all techniques being taught are appropriate for the growing bodies in their care- this is perhaps the most important criteria in choosing a dance studio for children.
The studio also fosters a nurturing environment for both the serious dancer and the student who may only pursue as a hobby and form of exercise. Performing troupes, competitive troupes, and companies

I enrolled my 6 year old in a ballet class. The teacher was was terrible. She didn't take much interest in the students because the type of class wasn't one that would lead to some big performance. That was my impression.
My daughter was so bored. I check in a few times and they would be standing there doing same repetitive movements. And sometime while that might be the case, practicing the basics. What bothere me was that the teacher was off to the side working on other stuff. The kids knew she was not taking interest in them.

I taught Hip Hop at this studio. This was my first year here, and I loved it! I will no longer be teaching due to nursing school but I wanted to give a review anyway. The studio is always tidy, and I love the ambiance of the studio. The owner, Deirdre, is so sweet but really knows how to run a tight ship. From a teacher perspective, being unbiased, I was always "in the know" as information is always readily available and this was also good for the parents. Made my life much easier! From observing the students, the studio offers great quality training. I've worked with other studios

My daughter has been at Hawkins for over three years all with Mrs. Rebecca. We think that the dance studio, and especially Mrs. Rebecca are fantastic. The only things I would change are the mandatory Hawkins signature leotard. It does not fit the younger girls well and tends to fad into a weird purple/grey color. A simple capizzio leotard is much cheaper and easier to fit. Second, and my biggest issue is the pay by credit card method for costumes and year end performance. For the past three recitals they failed to charge my credit card timely, resulting in my little girl being told that I

Some friends and I took a modern dance class here last night. The instruction was completely different from the ballet class I took so long ago.
We warmed up for a good 10-15 minutes, went over the steps several times before starting , the teacher was informative, friendly and didn't ignore us because we were slightly older than the other girls in class....
Not only was this class a great workout, it was fun! I love dance and this school offers lot of variety, from Tap, Jazz, ballet, lyrical, jazzercise for adult etc.
The rooms and waiting area are extremely clean and tidy, no children

Best Studio in the Area by Far...
If you are looking for the best studio in the Sacramento area for all types of dance I would say Hawkins in the place to go. The teachers are great and it has programs that give the kids experiences that not many other studios can offer.
As a side note, tap at this studio is probably one of the best in the country. Alyson is amazing!
If your child is a serious dancer or just in it for fun this place is where you want to go. I went there for 8 years and definitely do not regret a single class. There is a lot of variety, so you will not have to choose one style

Teachers seem to be pretty good and a lot of happy and serious faces in the dance classes.
The non teachers who run the place are a little uptight, coming off as demeaning to us more than once. Just had to shrug it off as they seem to be the only game in town.
The performance at the end of the year was at Folsom high; must sit through a couple hours of the studio showcase to see your kid's two minute performance. The place was too small for the number of people who wanted to get in to see their kid. No videotape or photos were allowed, you have to pay the bucks for the DVD of your kid
