We're sure there's something here that will interest you. After deciding we would build our family home in bare land, we spoke to many architects before selecting David Wright to design a custom house for us. The design process was a blast. David quickly came up with the perfect look and configuration for our family.

This fine modern two-bedroom home and studio/ garage is a year-round retreat located on the Sacramento River near Mount Shasta. It is designed to be very energy efficient and fireproof. Inside the two-story great room space, a window wall frames the beautiful river view. With walls and ceiling provide lively daylighting in the deeply forested site.
The modest ranch house for a large horse ranch needed a make-over and more space. The original wrap around porch hid the entry, making accessing the house a mystery. We enclosed part of the existing porch providing a targeted front door and gracious entry experience. Adding a Family room over an existing lower and separate garage, provided a space for guests and entertaining.

We appreciate a wide range of architectural styles. Our taste in architecture is like our taste in music, art and food; if it's good we like it. We particularly enjoy the fusion of compatible individual styles like California Mission and Japanese, "Zen-Mex" or "Victorian High-Tech." You name it!

Depending on the client's taste, environmental responsiveness, and local suitability, each architectural solution will incorporate a different look and feel. Each project is an original and unique response to the philosophy of team design, environmental sensibility and vernacular (local prevailing style) sensitivity.
David has a curious fascination with the reuse of cast-off items being reborn into sculptural objects of questionable beauty. He has been dabbling with the assembly of this "art" for over 20 years.

Evolving thru periods of using left-over: wood cut-offs from construction projects, high tension electrical insulators from unsecured sites, to currently welding disparate found metal objects into mystical icons of abstract, anthropomorphic, and symbolic statement.Years of dumpster diving and petty thievery have gone into this obsession.

My wife and I went to David with a rough outline of the house that we wanted to build. A smaller retirement house in an older neighborhood.
We wanted it to be of a style that would fit the older homes around it, but we wanted something that was very energy efficient and modern in it's engineering design. In essence, a new home that looked like an old one. He listened to what we wanted, asked appropriate questions, made some very good suggestions, and came up with plans that fit us to a tee. He did a very good job for us, and we found him pleasant to work with. I recommend him highly.
