Owens' Motel in Nags Head, NC provides guests comfort in knowing they will have a fantastic Outer Banks experience. Exceptional accommodations service and value is what Owens' Motel is all about, while maintaining its rich historic roots to the area through time-honored principles and the unique, traditional feel of lodging in the Old Nags Head style.
On the Beach Road, traveling from the north, you will see Owens' Motel on your left at about at milepost 16.5. The office is located in the front brick building that has the Owens' Motel sign and shake siding. For reservations with a deposit, 14 days or more prior to check in the full deposit is refunded, up to 48 hours there will be a $25 fee, and within 48 hours of check-in the deposit is nonrefundable.

We’ve stayed here twice actually within a month. Both times across the street. The first time we didn’t see any roaches, but the smell of cigarettes was noticeable to me & the overwhelming musty/moldy smell made it hard to sleep. There’s just no ventilation in the rooms or ability to open windows. We just left our second stay, I came prepared with my scentsy warmer and lots of wax to help the smell, which sadly didn’t make a difference. It’s just very musty. My son actually spilled a little water on the floor and the paper towel we used to blot it up was black. I get it, old motels, carpet

Cockroaches scattered as soon as I entered the room and turned on the light. I booked the room in advanced and thought how bad could it be for the price, it was worse. The window air conditioner was so loud and the bed felt like a pullout couch. The carpet is so bad it wasn't even sock worthy I kept my shoes on to walk around. When I checked out she charged me more than what she quoted me over the phone.
My room shared the parking lot of their restaurant and faced the back of the building over looking the dumpster and workers smokers lounge. Never going to eat at Owens Restaurant

Upon arrival at Owens motel, we realized smoking was permitted inside of the hotel rooms, ours reeked of cigarette smoke. Not the best of starts. As we started to unpack and made our way into the bathroom it became abundantly clear someone had very recently used this bathroom, so much so that the smell was unbearable and there was brown residue on the door right by the knob. I had to clean this myself. The sheets were extremely uncomfortable they had sand in them already. I went to take a shower and there was someone else’s hair inside of my “clean” towel. Located directly across from the Owens restaurant is this tiny motel with its own private beach access. The most affordable place to stay is here which means it books fast. Outdated but serves its purpose - sleep, shower and bathroom.
Our room was considered ocean side which is true but for someone who is a stickler for the details I think it should be renamed to beach access as you can not physically see or hear the ocean. The ocean view / side rooms are located at the back of the motel and these rooms are more expensive.

Motel did not live up to others reviews. Carpet was very grimy, bring extra socks because it turns your feet black. Chairs outside room were broken, as well as curtains. We found a dead roach in the room, but in fairness didn't see any live ones. Management was not very accommodating, asked for a late checkout and they acted like we asked for the moon. Also bring your own pillows because theirs are thin like paper. Can't say I'd stay here again.

My husband and 2 children checked in on Monday. Everything was OK until Wednesday night. The family above us had 2 children. These children stomped and what sounded like jumping off the beds. They did this until well after midnight Wednesday and Thursday. Also, on Wednesday night, I had a very bright LED light pinned at me as I sat on the beach by someone in that room. The children ran up and down the stairs yelling. I spoke to someone in the front office. He only said he'd say something to them. Whatever he said, had no bearing on her. It was a marching sound Thursday until almost 1am. The

Quaint, family owned motel. owner super friendly. Room clean, but otherwise you get what you pay for. Good location to walk across the street for the beach but room needs updating. Kept blowing a fuse while blow drying my hair. Other clientele very interesting. If you're low maintnence like us, good place to stay. No frills.

Housekeeping was super nice & gave us a lot of extra towels & toiletries. The room is small but fit perfectly for me & my husband. Room was out dated but still fitted our needs. Just wish there was a TV guide, a bath tub and more choices of flavors for coffee. Other than that, we had an awesome stay.

This hotel is very basic. Basic is just fine, in fact perfect. We had a clean room. The beds were made up and clean. The bathroom was clean. We couldn't hear the people in adjacent rooms. Property is very close to the beach. The staff was very friendly. What more could a person ask for? I don't need a fancy room with room service. This had everything I needed for a comfortable stay. I would certainly stay at Owen Motel again in the future.
