Established in 2009, Sure Sports specializes in low-interest, unsecured loans and contract advances to Professional Athletes in the National Football League (NFL), Major League Baseball (MLB), National Basketball Association (NBA), National Hockey League (NHL), and Major League Soccer (MLS) based on their player contracts.
Leon C. McKenzie is the Founder and President of Sure Sports. He launched Sure Sports in 2009 to focus on an under serviced market of providing athletes with competitive credit facilities. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Finance at West Chester University of Pennsylvania in 1999, before attending Villanova University's MBA Program.
Sure Sports offers loans and financing for NBA and NFL Draft-Eligible Players based on their draft predictions and projected salaries. Loans are available for the top 100 NFL Draft Prospects and the top 40 NBA Draft Prospects. Once the player is drafted, the loan amount can be increased to up to 30% of the player's guaranteed salary.
A McKenzie Mortgage is a unique mortgage designed exclusively for professional athletes, with conventional mortgage rates. With a McKenzie Mortgage, players can finance up to 110% of the purchase price, covering the down payment and closing costs. This means that players will see smaller payments in the off-season and build additional equity in their home while they are actively playing.
Sure Sports offers financing and loans for MLB and NHL Players awaiting arbitration decisions and contracts. Financing of up to 10% of a player's projected market value or 30% of the team's submitted salary proposal is available. Shortly after the conclusion of the 2016 MLB season, Sure Sports received a request to secure financing for a Pre-Arbitration MLB player.
