In addition to all aspects of divorce and custody, I have extensive experience in various methods of alternative dispute resolution methods in divorce and family law.

Going to court is one option, and I am a skilled trial litigator - but there is also mediation and collaborative law, whereby the parties pledge not to go to court, and work towards an agreed-upon resolution. I earned my undergraduate degree from Montclair State University (NJ) in 1975 with a B.A. in Psychology and went on to earn an M.B.A. from Rutgers-Newark (NJ) in 1978. After many years of working as a government contractor for clients such as National Institutes of Health and the Department of Energy, I made a significant decision to pursue my law degree at night from The University of Maryland, School of Law.
The decision to divorce is one of the most difficult and complicated choices in life. In addition to the personal and private concerns that you may have, there are practical matters that can be confusing and even overwhelming at a time when quick decision-making and clarity is crucial to the well-being of you and your family.
Going through a divorce is difficult, but never more so when it comes to issues surrounding custody of children. If both parties can reach agreement on custody, there is free assistance available from the Office of Child Support in your county, working with the State's Attorney, who can help establish and collect child support.
While there are free online resources for calculating child support, such as the Maryland Online Child Support Worksheet provided by the Maryland Department of Human Resources, Child Support Enforcement Program, the issue of child support is extremely complex and should be approached with legal counsel and advice.
Alimony is a periodic payment by one former spouse to the other, usually designed to provide an opportunity for the recipient spouse to become self-supporting. Alimony is not awarded in every divorce; if it is awarded, it is usually granted for a certain period of time and is calculated using a complex series of factors with wide latitude by the courts in setting the amount and the terms of the payments.
