Website lists 10 piece chicken wings $12.59; same on AX Hilton Honors Dining Program. Was charged $19.38 because "price of chicken has gone up and they cannot continually update any websites."
1: Buyer beware - 10 piece chicken wing is really 5 wings.
2. Incorrectly prepared - instead of regular Krispy, gave me Sweet and Sour.
3. Second attempt on order - still incorrect - instead of regular Krispy, drowning in hot sauce.
What a waste of money, time and cost of gas to drive to restaurant. Yardhouse has two very nice fried chicken options. Completely different type restaurant -- More

I don't like giving poor reviews but here goes. Was excited to try this place for the first time. Been to Philly many times and have tried a lot of their cheesesteak institutions. I wasn't expecting it to compete with the CS in Philly but this was awful. I asked for cheese and onions only. What I got was an onion sandwich with bland meat and cheese. I ended up throwing most of it away. I showed the cook all of the onions I pulled but I'm not sure he really cared. Too bad but hopefully they read this and make changes, it's in a busy location. C'mon fellas, do better!!!

I happened to be at The River over lunch time so I thought I'd pop in. Got to the door and the sign says closed and the lights are off. There were no customers in there. I stuck my head in and asked if they were open and to my surprise they were. There was a girl sweeping and a guy stocking sodas in the cooler. The menu is quite broad with many Filipino choices, fried chicken and a few other choices. I ordered four chicken strips. They made them to order which is nice and they were around $9.00 which seems high considering I got nothing else with them. No drink, no fries, no sauce

First asked for no green peppers on our cheese steak. Dropped it to our table with green peppers on it, sent it back, brought us out a new one that had green peppers on it as well, and they said it's jalapeño. Lol. It definitely wasn't jalapeño. The Philly cheesesteak was terrible, Took one bite and sent it back. It had ZERO flavor and ZERO seasoning!Subway has a better cheesesteak, and there's isn't even real. But at least it has flavor. The lumpia was mediocre. I can get better frozen Lumpia from Aj Filipino Market in Cat City, a WHOLE bag for less then one order at Apongs

Sadly i have to change this review. i came in for a cheesesteak- i usually get the fried chicken which is great.
the cheese steak was the worst i've ever had. got the jalapeño one and asked for no green peppers. received it with GP asked for them to make a new one with our it and they again gave me one with peppers and no jalapeños. they said "these are not GP they're jalapeños. "
they weren't but whatever. took a bite and wow, didn't know it was possible to have something have so many ingredients like onions or mushrooms and still taste like cardboard.

Great chicken, but double check your order before you leave. Have been there twice in the past month for take out, both times had to turn around and go back because they forget several items from our order. Not intended I'm sure, just staff not paying attention. Very frustrating the first time, just lucky I only got to the car before I noticed on the second trip.

I liked the cheesesteak, it was pretty good. Well season beef and grilled onions and peppers. Decent size too.
Halo Halo was okay. Didn't have many of the the fillings that I were used to and the ones in there were small. Ice cream was interesting. Ube one had different flair and texture than that of which I'm used to.
Only tried the halo halo, for to try the Filipino food next time.

Average food and way overpriced. We visit the desert about 1-2 times a year and I was surprised to learn of this restaurant when I searched best quick bites in the area. The reviews were overwhelmingly positive, so it was a no brained to check it out. I haven't been to Philly, but I have had good cheesesteaks and this just wasn't the best I've had. The meat was flavorless and overcooked and the fries were just okay. Maybe it's because I'm from LA, which is one of the country's top food capitals. Or maybe it's because I like well seasoned and robust flavorful

We've only come here for their take out fried chicken, which I recommend very highly. I grew up on fried chicken and am a bit of a snob, and I had doubts when a friend in Philly suggested I look for a Krispy Krunchy Chicken franchise. It just so happens Apong's is one.

So much here that I want to try now that we've had our first taste!
I originally picked Apong's b/c of the Philly Cheese Steak, but then we saw that the fried chicken looked good so we decided to give it a try.
OMG! If you've never experienced homemade fried chicken you owe it to yourself to give Apong's a try! Delicious! We also recommend the regular and Cajun tenders which just happened to come with amazing biscuits. And the fries don't disappoint either!
They have such a great variety of original dishes there is something for everyone!
We'll be back!

The chicken is always so juicy and flavorful at Apong's I really like their chicken. The biscuit is sweet but it was slightly dry. The Mac n Cheese was not good. I think they need to improve their Mac n Cheese IMMENSELY.
My friend had the spamsilog. You can't go wrong with Filipino food. I'm half Filipino and I approve of the ventilog style spam.
The restaurant is clean and looks very modern.
I would come back.
