212 Pilates
Ashley (they/she) is a gym-bro, try-hard turned Pilates instructor certified through Polestar Pilates. Their classes are athletic, functional, and rigorous and approach Pilates as an accessible and adaptable cross-training method. Being a professional dancer and lifter, their expertise resides in structuring classes and sessions that build muscular endurance, functional strength, and sustainable mobility.

Julia fell in love with Pilates originally for it's ability to heal her own body through several injuries she developed as a result of being a performer for many years. She quickly noticed drastic changes in her own body awareness and strength, and an improvement in her imbalances.

I'm Tara, owner and founder of 212 Pilates and am stoked to open up and share the 212 Pilates community with you. I began casually practicing pilates in late 2005. As a Type-A Manhattanite, I spent (nay, wasted) most of my private sessions focused on my blackberry. Pilates was a small break in my week spent working too many hours behind a desk and even more hours in sky-high heels.
212 Pilates believes in individual attention and our reformer, ladder and hybrid classes have only 4 students per class allowing modifications, requests and the ability to flow with the students needs rather than pre-decided choreography. 212 Pilates classes are based in biomechanics and use a balance of traditional and classic pilates exercises mixed with new exercises and challenges.

Reiki, like other energy work modalities, doesn't necessarily heal the body, but rather, creates space for the body to use it's own intelligence to heal itself. Reiki can create space for healing physical, mental, emotional and spiritual wounds. As long as the client is ready to face the healing journey they must face as their natural karmic path.
To prepare for the ceremonies, I worked closely with Tara Gordon, the founder of 212 Pilatesin New York City, who helped me identify areas of my body where I was carrying stress, muscle groups I wanted to strengthen, and areas that were strained due to improper technique. We worked out in swimming pools, on the beach, on rocks with bottles of Rose.

Absolutely LOVE this pilates studio!!! I leave these pilates classes feeling so much better in my body than when I come in. I take only group classes and find that this structure and price point works well with my lifestyle. If possible, take classes directly with Tara!

High-end studio. Looking for super knowledgable instructors? This studio is clean, spacious, yet never has more than 4 students to a class. The attention they pay to their clients is incredible, and I appreciate their willingness to explain the body to everyone.

I work out with Tara every week. She is an expert with anything related to anatomy and Pilates. Having a few disc issues in my back and neck, it is essential for me to work with someone with that kind of knowledge to make sure I don’t hurt myself. Tara is the best. The studio itself is new, so everything is top notch and in great condition.
Highly recommended!

I have been to many pilates classes in the city. But Charisse’s lesson has helped me understand how real effective pilates class should feel like. You get the individual guidance that is difficult to get in medium size-large group sized pilates classes. Loved it.

I first started seeing Tara when my chiropractor recommended me to her, saying that she'd transformed some of his worst patients into able-bodied people again. Seeing Tara was one of the best recommendations of my life! I went from being in constant back pain to learning how my body needed to move and connect to be pain free. I see Tara as a form of physical therapy, but it's also a great work out. When i broke my ankle earlier this year (booo) I did my physical therapy with her because honestly she is the only person I trust not to hurt my body. after years of PT that only made my situation worse

The class is amazing! Charisse is great. Woke up the next day SO sore. She kept the energy high while giving each person special instructions. The studio is also beautiful. Such an inspiring place to workout.

This is an incredible studio that takes a very safe and professional approach to pilates. In order to really focus on each student, classes are never bigger than 4 students at a time. The teachers are wonderful and VERY knowledgable. Good instructors take the time to ask if there are any injuries, GREAT instructors take the time to explain what's happening and why your injuries are happening. Tara took the time to help and modify the whole class for me. She is a true pilates maven, and her studio is pristine. You will leave her class feeling muscles you haven't thought about in a while

I highly recommend Tara Gordon, founder and owner of 212 Pilates. I'm a mother of 2 and since my second pregnancy, have had a weakened core and diastasis. Not to mention being overwhelmed with work, family, and life!Since discovering Tara, and visiting 212 Pilates twice a week for the last 8 weeks, I have regained core strength, improved my posture, reduced my body aches and just felt much better. Tara is an excellent teacher. She knows a lot about anatomy and the body and passes along that knowledge to clients. She focuses on form, explains movements and machinery and keeps a close eye on
