Willow Tree Winery
Willow Tree winery is a small boutique style winery located just north of the Twin Cities in Ham Lake, Minnesota. Established in 2003 by Jim and Barb Szurek, what started out as a retirement hobby soon became a family business. Jim and Barb operate the winery with help from their son and his family as well as many friends who have pitched in along the way.

The winery grows over an acre of cold climate grapes for the wine that is made and sold on site only. The farm has been in the family for over 48 years now and is available to rent for parties where you would have complete access to the entire farm.

Very cute venue with autumn colors on the trees surrounding the property. Nice outdoor seating with food truck. Unfortunately, very, very bad wine and very unfriendly owner.

Sweet wines, the first 4 1-2 ounce samples are free. A generous pour glass was $6. Jim is a friendly host. I found most of the wines to be sweet and refreshing, nice for a warm summer day. They give you a cup of oyster crackers to cleanse your palette in between samples and glasses. It was rainy the day I visited making the tasting room a little crowded, nicer weather opens up a lot of seating options on the grounds.

This is a cute a little vineyard and has so much potential but when we arrived we received no greeting and no instructions on how the wine tasting worked. The lady working was Ms. Grumpy Gills. We still enjoyed our time and they really have some very tasty wines.

This is a great place to casually enjoy wine of all varieties. Low key and not packed, you can actually enjoy company while sipping moderately priced wine.

The wine is delicious! I was happy with ALL the samples we tried. Bought 2 bottles and we'll be back many more times. The owner was very nice and knowledgeable of the wine. We were very pleased with our experience here.

The owners were pleasant. The owner, Jim, was very knowledgeable about the wines and guided me in the right direction. I was unfamiliar and it felt good not wasting my money on something I didn’t like. I would definitely recommend. Prices were affordable. 10/10.

It's a small cute winery. The owners are super friendly and the price was very reasonable. Just a warning though, 1) NO ONE inside the tiny tasting room was wearing masks - including the employees who were pouring wine and offering tastings. Not a great place to visit during a pandemic. and 2) this place has big Trump 2020 flags on the premise.

Thought about stopping at this small house based winery. As you pull up you will see an ugly political flag of the current fool in office. Last place I would go to unwind with a glass of wine when a political flag greets you first. Move along!

Wine was okay but chose to display political statements that have no place in customer service. They also did not comply with state mandated mask requirements. Think about your customers first and your personal beliefs second.

This is my favorite winery ever! Jim and Barb are amazing, super friendly and very helpful. My inlaws introduced me to this winery years ago and we go every Friday. The wine here is the best in Minnesota! The environment is always comfortable and I always meet so many friendly people but have also created some good friends.

Great service with very good prices. Your first four tastings are free and the average price of a bottle will run you about $14.00. They have many options to choose from in both red and white. Not to mention that they have selections for your die hard cabernet drinker that prefer their wine on the dryer less sweet spectrum. I would highly recommend the Sand on their red selection, very dry will a soft finish. Glad I bought a bottle to bring home.
