Went here a few weeks ago for a birthday cake. Everything looked nice until we got the cake home. It had an off taste to it like it had been sitting at the bakery for a few days. Cost was 21:50 for what I would say could feed four maybe five people at most. 8 or 9 inch. Will not go back. This place used to be a good bakery.😤

My family used to frequent Benkerts bakery when I was a child and this year I was looking for petit fours and pfeffernusse cookies. I called the bakery and placed an order at 12 noon and paid for it over phone. When I got to the bakery at 5:30 pm, the Petit fours were not ready so I waited a little bit which was not a problem, only to find out that their version of a petit four was an icing covered rainbow cookie. I was highly disappointed and paid way too much money for these glamorous rainbow cookies. In addition, While I waited for the petit fours to be ready I did purchase a 2 pound box of

Bankerts was a bit of a let down, after seeing all the reviews on here I stopped in to buy pastries/cookies for my family that came to stay for New Years. They had a tiny selection of small pastries so instead I picked 4 big napoleons and a small box of cookies. The rainbow cookies were decent but the napoleons smelled and tasted like mold, I also got a bag of ground coffee which was good. Since it came out to $50 for these items including the napoleons that clearly went bad I don’t think I’d come back to bankerts unfortunately.

Ordered a Chocolate Cream Pie...received a Whip Cream Pie. Now I love whipped cream but this was ridiculous. I hope this was an error because that's a shameful bakery pie. I would have been humiliated if I had bought this to bring somewhere. Thankfully we just made fun of it as a family after dinner. I will never make that mistake again. 🤢

Went in to get a fresh loaf of bread and some treats for the family.
What I got was fresh bread and moldy apple turnovers! Yuk. The bread is always fresh and good I thank God I cut into the giant fresh looking apple turnover in half because if not I would have consumed a moldy mess and got very sick as I am allergic to mold. The staff offered to refund my money and apologized. Will def go elsewhere for my apple turnovers.

Wow. This place place has went downhill from many years ago. It should be a 3.5 star review but that doesn't exist. We went on this store around. 12:30 pm on this Saturday
The lady who helped us seemed like she would rather be at a DDS for a root canal than answer any questions we had.
The customer service was really bad. Asking what each item was filled with (as they had multiple deserts side by side with different fillings) was just short of a visible eye roll
As she was ringing us up we decided we wanted a log of bread. Again asking what type of bread a certain one was was met with

Picked up a marble fudge cake for my dad's birthday today - frosting and ganache tasted good and everyone noticed how pretty it was decorated BUT the cake itself was AWFUL! So dry and flavorless it could have been made and sat out for a week. No one even finished their slice, let alone went back for seconds. I had a similar experience the last time I went here but this bakery was so good when I was a kid, I figured I'd give them a second chance. Can't justify a third after this time.

We ordered my sons 2nd birthday Cake from here.We ordered 7"cake with chocolate cake with cherry filling.They told it will be $55 for Cake.We then decided to changed color of cake to yellow from blue so they added extra $10 for it.After coming home in 20minutes ,we decided to go for original color -blue but for my surprise they increase again to $75 which they originally quoted for $55.
Also cake was worst cake and dry.
Never ever go to that place!!

This place went completely down hill! I'm shocked I've been coming here for years. Every holiday, birthday, special occasion. Not anymore! their prices increased dramatically while their baked goods got way smaller in size and doesn't taste the same. I called today to place an order for 15 cupcakes ( I figured I'd try 1 more time being as though this used to be my fav place) well not only was the girl who answered the phone a complete snot but she quoted me 75 dollars for 15 Cupcakes (as per her boss) I said wow your prices went up a, regular cupcake 2x the size of the ones

They have a nice looking selection of items. I went there today for French bread but they had none. So I bought two Napoleon's and two French macaroons. I have no idea what the macaroons taste like because I gave it to my daughter. The Napoleon wasn't flaky but burnt and crispy in the inside. Very disappointing. Couldn't enjoy it, not worth the calories. I've posted a pic of the inside.

Surprised by all the negative reviews though it's my first time here. There is a constant flow of customers in this bakery.
We walked in and there were some customers but not overly crowded. Came in looking for dessert to bring to a dinner. The decision came down to fruit tart or strawberry cheesecake. After an employee came to help us with our decision, we decided on strawberry. It helped to know your guests' taste buds.
We also picked up a linzer cookie to snack on.
Results:
The cookie was a bit dry for me.
The cheesecake was a hit.
Will have to come back to try other items

Bought my mother a birthday cake from this bakery and I was so disappointed, it was custom ordered so I thought it would be fresh but it turned out to be stale and the frosting was sour, we had to throw the whole thing out and it was expensive! Called for a refund twice and each time I was told it would be done soon however it still hasn't yet. Definitely wouldn't recommend them, in my opinion they're also quite overpriced. Prestano bakery down the road is much better.

I don't like to leave negative reviews at all! I'm not the type cause i support a lot of local buisnesses i went in spoke to a very nice young lady she took my cake order correct . Everything was right ! The decorating was awesome !! However the cake tasted disgusting . My kids even said it was gross . My daughters 3rd birthday was ruined :( the icing was as hard as a rock and did not taste like funfetti at all ! 42$ down the drain giving them another shot isn't an option i do not reccomend

There macaroons are amazing!! ( my favorite is vanilla) they always have so many to choose from.
There cakes are also great ( my recommendation is the " seven layer cake "
As you can tell I'm very basic when it comes to dessert )
They usually have 6-7 workers in the front helping costumers !!!!!
There bread , cupcakes, etc. are also amazing too!!
I definitely recommend it

I have been ordering from this bakery located in Centereach for quite a few years and friends of mine from different towns come here to get birthday 🍰🥧 cakes, pies and cookies for colleagues and family. They have a wide selection to choose from. Our favorites are apple turnovers, Napoleons, strawberry shortcake and death by chocolate and black forest cakes. This place has ample parking and is wheel chair accessible. It is right off Middle Country Rd. I have not been disappointed in any of my selections. They work hard and have fair prices. I would recommend trying it at least once.

Benkert's is right on Middle Country Rd. Seemed somewhat active during the week. Some items looked more colorful and commercial than high end. Tried a B & W cookie and a super looking chocolate coated crunchy pretzel shaped pastry. When back couldn't put out that it was clearly very dried/ stale. Cookie was fine just no real flavor.
