Blue Adobe Project
Students who enroll at Sky Islands join an academic community and are expected to take part in that community respectfully and apply themselves responsibly to academic work. Students should be prepared to be physically active in our field work projects and intellectually challenged in our classrooms.

All Sky Islands' students take a demanding sequence of core classes in math, science, social studies, and language arts. Electives are open to all students in grades 10-12. Upper division classes in lab sciences and honors programs are available based on eligibility to those students who meet or exceed the academic and behavioral pre-requisites.
Services
We welcome your interest in Sky Islands for your education, however all charter schools are not alike. Please weigh your decision carefully-we do not offer credit-recovery programs, and our curriculum is not fast-paced or strictly individualized. Students who enroll at Sky Islands join an academic community and are expected perform at high academic levels.
Sky Islands' students take part in the ongoing establishment and maintenance of our site-based farms and preparing lunches as part of the school's Blue Sky Caf. This is an urban farm-to-kitchen program to provide students with experience in both growing and preparing food.

Student harvests from our on-site farms, as well as supplementary produce in partnership with Pivot Produce, help to create the healthy lunches for themselves and everyone in the school community. In the Urban Horticulture class, which is part of this program, students work with David Rollins to propagate seedlings in the greenhouse, select and plant seasonal vegetables to grow, install irrigation, and manage the farm.
In this space, read the voices of our students as they reflect on their personal experiences, school activities, and social life at Sky Islands. They provide a window onto student culture, what students find here and the community they create together at Sky Islands. Become a Sky Islander and add your story.
The big picture for Rogers Commons is provided here on map rendering, designed with the generous help of The Planning Center. It will take time and work to remake this area and give it a special sense of place and feeling of vitality.

But those of us at Sky Islands are invested in replanting, rebuilding, and altogether restoring the Rogers site as a public place that provides a healthy habitat for birds and trees, and for people to slow down and gather together. To honor the legacy that Rogers school has in the neighborhood, and its namesake Anne E. Rogers, we have named the larger site Rogers Commons.

This is truly one of the best schools your will ever go to/ enroll your child into. The teachers are friendly and you get to know them as people, not just your teachers and they get to know you as well. You are your own person and at this school, whoever that person is really stands out. If you want to create a truly remarkable and unforgettable experience during your or your child’s high school year/s, bring them here :)

My daughter has always been an excellent student, and has always been on honor roll, AP, etc, but still felt that school was irrelevant to her life and was basically just going through the motions. Prior to her graduating middle school, we were looking at Basis, University High, etc., but found that those schools really weren't effective at preparing her for college, which requires much more than just being able to do hours of homework or rote standardized test-taking. We're SO glad we found Sky Islands- it is actually much more 'college prep' than the other college prep schools because it teaches

By far the best school in Tucson! Sky Islands is a truly unique and powerful educational environment, and its Director and Associate Director, along with all of the teachers and staff, are completely committed to the core values of the school and to each and every one of the students. The program is integrated, hands-on and experiential, and incorporates studies of the environment across the subject areas. The class sizes are small, and every student receives a lot of one-on-one attention. I've known the administrators and science teacher for all 7 years of the school so far and have seen the amazing

I would not suggest attending Sky Islands to anyone. The co-director of the school, Sandi could care less about the students' and only has her position because she likes to be in control of people. Neither the director nor co-director represent the core values of the school, such as gardening and working in the environment, and you'll almost never find them outside of their office. The teachers are amazing, and the idea of the school is as well, but issues with the administration completely ruin the experience of the school.
