Services
All staff members at Burkhardt Physical Therapy Center collaborate to ensure that each patient is getting the treatment and relief that they need and expect from us. Our goal is to see that each patient we treat leaves with less pain, moving with greater ease after each session.

All of our staff members have experience with, and are continuously training in, advanced manual and neuromuscular re-education techniques, as well as Jones Strain Counterstrain, to ensure that the patient receives the best treatment possible.Hello, my name is Myra and I am a physical therapist.
Place one hand on your belly just below the ribs and the other hand on your chest. You can do this while standing, but it may be more comfortable while you are lying on the floor with your knees bent. Belly-breathing helps you engage your deep inner core muscles for improved core stability. Contract your abdominals by pulling your belly button to your spine and flattening your back.
Good spinal alignment in a seated position keeps the upper body the same with ear, shoulder, and hip in line. Sit in your chair so that your feet are flat on the floor and your hips are at about a 90 degree angle. You may need to place a pillow or towel roll along the backrest of the chair to assist with postural improvements.
Fascial Counterstrain, initially called Strain Counterstrain, was recently developed by osteopathic physical therapist, Brian Tuckey, PT. The original technique was developed by Lawrence Jones, DO over a 40 year period starting in 1955. In observing a skilled Fascial Counterstrain practitioner, you will immediately be impressed with how gentle and non-traumatic this technique is for treating the painful patient.
