Dr. Kevin Prates holds a bachelor's degree in graphic design and an associate's in photography from Pacific Union College. He received his doctorate in dental surgery from Loma Linda School of Dentistry.

We accept many traditional insurance plans, contact our office to verify acceptance of your plan. Heights Family Dental does not participate in Health Management Organizations; however, we will be happy to file your insurance claims for you.

Dr. Prates and his whole staff are amazing! We moved to Hood River in March, and we’re worried about finding a provider that could top our last dentist in Happy Valley (who we were with for over 3 years); we were so thankful to have Heights Family Dentist right down the street from us. Many dental offices were out several months but Dr. Prates office got us in much sooner! I would highly recommend this professional dental office in Hood River!

Had a filling replaced recently to close an open contact area that was painfully trapping food and really making it pretty miserable to chew some days.
Dr. Prates did a great job of assessing the problem, suggesting a solution, then replacing the filling under local anesthesia (injected almost painlessly, I might add).
It's worked like a charm . . . I'm so pleased with the results: I can eat and chew without pain in that spot anymore! And the cost of the procedure was very reasonable.

Best dentist in hood river by a long shot!! I am so relieved to find a dentist here in town that takes the time to really get to know their patient and their concerns. Dr. Prates was kind, a great listener and explained everything very clearly. At the dentist I used to visit in town, everything felt very rushed. Even “gimicky” from a sales perspective. Not the case here at all. I can honestly say I am looking forward to my next visit. Connie and Carol were so helpful as well as Diana and Kim at the front desk. A dream team!

I honestly don’t like going to the dentist and will put it off til’ the last minute and I know that’s awful but with that said I know I have an infection and right away the front desk helped me out and set me up ASAP and got me in. Dr. Prates was amazing and took his time to explain things to me and helped me understand things. And I absolutely loved Carol! Super awesome women. I definitely recommend Heights Family Dental! Great staff 🙌🏻

Everyone is AMAZING. Dr. Prates describes everything in layman’s terms. He was professional, but not stuffy and put me at ease right away. He, definitely, seems to have a good soul. The ladies in reception were, both, very nice and Dr. Prates assistant was very knowledgeable. It was nice to receive a voice mail and text message, the next day, inquiring on how I was feeling. I feel like I have, most certainly, found my new dentist.
