These guys are pretty knowledgeable and have a great stock of parts. My first impression was that they were slight know-it-all’s as many mechanics are in my experience, sometimes to the point of being condescending. But after many visits making an effort in good faith to practice discussion and optimize communication, things improved drastically, and our work together was typically done well, quickly, and enjoyably.
Some of the reviews here claim the guys are unfriendly and I can definitely imagine why someone might think that at first, but they clearly love the sport so are very helpful and

These guys did a variety of unusual work in addition to a few normal stuff like brake work and an oil change. They were very creative, skilled and sensible about installing a Zumo GPS mount. And they had a mess to fix and clean after mice a bunch of stuff. All with friendliness and professionalism. I am very happy that they are around!

Driven by and seen the 'very small sign' for many years but never stopped in because I never heard anyone talk about them. After joining Madison Motorcycle Club and hearing talk within the Club of what they can do, I decided to stop in and ended up picking up several items and ordering more. And, ironically, now I hear people talking about them all the time (good things).
Haven't had any actual work done by them (just ordering parts) but sure am impressed with their knowledge. If you haven't yet, stop in - you'll be impressed, too.

Ya wj talks loud and is gruff but no matter what anybody puts on here saying he is rude he is not rude he is just damn busy and the reason for being busy is he and everyone that works there knows motorcycles and there good at what they do. I take my 22 year gold wing in there for service and they have always taken good care of it they give a fair price for good solid work. You will always get treated fairly and better yet your cycle gets taken care of by good honest guys.

I called to ask if they would change a rear tire for me. They said yes and told me it would be $20-40 depending on how much work it would be. I brought my wheel in and was thrilled with the work. The owner wasn't the nicest, but I figured everyone has a bad day from time to time. I called two days later and asked if they could do the front tire. They said sure and quoted me $40 again. I brought the wheel in and the owner started to take my info. I told him no biggie if they can't get to it today. He shouted at me. "YOU'RE NOT GOING TO GET IT TODAY!" I laughed, smiled, and said, "yup, I just said

I have been a customer since the mid-1980's. I have had numerous bikes worked on by Motorcycle Performance and never had the work not properly done. I'm no mechanic, and they know it, so they often point out things needing attention (and if it's simple enough they'll sell me the part and point me in the right direction) otherwise I have them do it. I had the shop build me a custom street bike (a contemporary café racer) in 1996 and I'm still riding it (2016) with no unexpected problems. Some complain that they are expensive, but in large part it's because the owner pays his employees better than

Had a great week of warm February weather, and I was able to get my dual purpose bike serviced, new tires etc., all within a couple of days, so I am ready to roll. They did this faster, more conveniently, and at a better price than some of the others I checked. They accommodated easily my ability to ride the bike during a stretch of unusually warm winter weather, and I am ready for Spring too with the new tires etc. Great job.

The last thing I ever imagined was stepping into a motorcycle performance shop and being told to "read my service manual" and "I'm not gonna hold your hand on it".
First off... I never met this man before and second off, I never realized that asking a "performance" shop to re-jet and tune my carbs would be such a problem!
My wife had gone in on another occasion to surprise me with some parts. During her visit she experienced the same treatment with a little "women don't belong in motorcycle shops" attitude!
She knew what she was gonna buy, but

I've been going to these guys off and on for over ten years. Everyone there is super friendly and very knowledgeable about motorcycles...AND they are honest! If you're paying out of pocket, they will do what they can to help you save money. They have a decent selection of used bikes too if you're in the market. I highly recommend them!

The best compliment you can pay a mechanic is this one: these guys are honest.
I've been taking my vintage, temperamental cycle to Motorcycle Performance ever since I got it this spring. It's been a couple years since I've dealt with owning and maintaining a classic bike, and the prospect is daunting and often surprisingly expensive. The guys at Motorcycle Performance have been working with me ever since the first tow. When they quoted me on a problem and a part a couple months ago, I decided to do my own research to see how the price for the part compared to what I could find
