Dorst MediaWorks founder Steve Dorst spent a year in Cameroon in the late 1990s on a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholarship. In part from this experience, he was motivated to make his first documentary film in Cameroon, Volcanic Sprint. Since then, he and the Dorst MediaWorks team have jumped at every opportunity to help tell stories for organizations that are working to do good on the African continent.

Steve produced a highly successful documentary video series for the International Monetary Fund in 2017-18, featuring our work in Colombia, Ireland, and Vietnam. The videos have so far garnered more than a million views on our corporate video channels, and continue to do well. I am extremely impressed by Steve’s work, and highly recommend him both as an accomplished storyteller and capable project manager who needs very little direction and supervision.

Great video producer and storyteller, with strong skills working across cultures! I joined Steve’s film crew in Malawi, Africa, for a one-week documentary shoot for a high-profile US government client. He directed and shot, with amazing results; and always managed to put everyone at ease, production crew and Malawian subjects alike. I’m looking forward to working with Steve again.

I have had the pleasure of working with Steve on several projects that required creativity, expertise, and attention to detail. Steve has a unique set of qualities that he brings to media projects: He sees the big, strategic picture, takes the time to understand the details, and has the international affairs expertise that equips him with a sharp editorial sense.

Steve was engaged by the IMF to produce videos to help the general public better understand the experience of countries that receive IMF lending. Ireland's program in 2010-13 was the topic in this case. Steve did an excellent job in telling the story of the Irish program in a compelling way. I was impressed by how the combination of interviewing, editing, and visuals came together to make a clear and impactful narrative!

I am really lucky that I have worked with Steve Dorst in my hometown to shoot a promo, presents my town for worldwide WRI Prizes. I have learned a lot from Steve as his colleague of him.
I have not seen a director before, can handle a lot of stuffs together himself for making film. Like; directing the film in a limited time, getting and understanding the story about where ever place he works, handling any equipment alone (being sound and gaffer, drone pilot, writer, grips, DOP, DIT etc.) , coping with the people in the places, he works for his projects, praying like a priest for the good weather

Steve Dorst made a fantastic video for us on a particularly tight deadline! It was a challenging assignment as he had to film in Senegal for three days and then write and edit a script in both English and French. Steve’s experience working with development organizations was evident as he turned around a strong script in a very short time. We were incredibly proud to feature the video for the Senegalese delegation at the World Bank Group Annual Meetings Our team is pleased with the result and looks forward to collaborating with Steve again.

Finding filmmakers that think beyond the art and the production, but to the central message and the power of influence is difficult in the creative industry, but Steve Dorst and Dorst Media Works checks all those boxes and more. Steve is a rare combination of intelligent, thoughtful creative and resourceful production expertise that makes him potent in all environments. He looks through the obvious to find solutions that are sometimes surprising to his clients and the audience. Many look to satisfy requirements, Steve aims to exceed. Not satisfied with a B, DMW is A level no matter the budget and
