The Foundation for Financial Planning is the nation's only 501(c)(3) nonprofit charity solely devoted to supporting the delivery of pro bono financial planning. Since 1995, FFP has powered pro bono planning by supporting efforts that link volunteer financial planners to people in crisis or need, providing them with free, quality advice to improve their finances and their lives.
The Foundation for Financial Planning acts as the national engine for pro bono financial planning. We provide financial support, technical assistance, training, and resources to enable nonprofits around the country to develop and sustain pro bono financial planning programs for the people they serve.
FFP powers pro bono financial planning for people in crisis or need by: providing grants to local and national nonprofits to create and expand pro bono programs, helping activate volunteer financial planners, developing innovative pro bono program models, offering free financial planning resources, and raising the visibility of pro bono service within the financial planning profession.
FFP focuses much of our grantmaking and other efforts on areas where we believe we can have the greatest impact, including programs for military and veterans, programs for people with cancer, and activating volunteers across the country in partnership with our national strategic partner, the Financial Planning Association (FPA).
Studies show that individuals with cancer often face "financial toxicity, " manifested by a mix of severe economic stress, depression and anxiety that can worsen the underlying health condition. Even with private health insurance or coverage through Medicare or Medicaid, families are at substantial risk of financial catastrophe.
