In our owners mind, The Flat Tire Bike Shop is less of a bike shop and more of a pirate ship. Instead of sailing the seven seas, our ship is sailing the currents of lackluster strip mall bike shops. Our mission is to bring back the passion and art of what a bike shop should be. Whether that means meticulously prepping a race bike, or tuning up your daily commuter.
Come one, come all! Brave the Arizona nights with us. Charge up your lights, tell the spouse your working late, and head on up to the Flat Tire for our "World Famous" Wednesday night ride. Particularly popular during the summer months (because its HOT here), this ride is for all skill levels.
The route is shaped like a lollipop; leaving from the shop and heading into Cave Creek Regional Park, then looping through the park and heading back out on the trail we rode in on (making it very hard to get lost).After the ride stick around the shop, crack a cold one, and hang out with your fellow riders and the FTBS Crew for some BBQ.

Great buying experience thanks to Vinny and John. Decided to upgrade to my first full suspension and I had a ton of questions. Vinny helped me into the bike I was looking for and John took an enormous amount of his time and patience to teach me about every adjustment and customization I could do to my new ride. He could tell that I liked to "play" around with the bikes and I enjoy tweaking things to constantly improve my ride. I definitely found my new favorite bike shop!

Was referred here for a bike fitting on my new gravel bike. I am very new to gravel/mountain bike riding.
All the guys at the shop were incredibly helpful and patient. They didn't have a phone clip for my bike so they helped me find one online.
The fitting they did on my bike made it feel like a brand new bike. No more back pain. The bike rides so much better now, it feels like I can go forever.
Highly recommended everyone get their bike fitted by Kaolin and the guys at Flat Tire.

Loved working with John to purchase mountain bikes. I haven’t been on a bike for 2 decades so needed a lot of guidance and patience. John even brought the bikes out to my house (close by) so I could see how hike hitch worked. Just finished our first ride and had a blast! Realize you never forget how to ride!

I cannot recommend this place enough and plan to purchase all new bikes and things from them whenever I need something. Most specifically, I highly recommend a getting a bike fitting with Kaolin Cummens, the owner. I wondered whether my bike was the right size and was a bit disappointed with it. I never considered paying for a fitting and couldn't imagine it could be worth the money to have someone make adjustments. I moved to cave creek recently and needed a nearby shop…couldn’t have found a better gem. John and his team had my tubes fixed in less than a day and were quite knowledgeable answering my questions as I’m new to mountain biking. Would highly recommend anyone checking flat tire out regardless where you live.

If you live near Cave Creek, AZ, you're lucky to have this bike shop nearby. I had a blowout today on a ride. Matt came out of the store and offered to help. In a jiffy, he replaced my tubeless tire plus sealant in 15 minutes. Very friendly and helpful. And they have everything else in the shop that a cyclist might need. Thanks Matt.

I had a great experience with Flat Tire bike shop. John and Matt are really nice people who know everything needed to help the street and mountain bike enthusiast. I took in my vintage street bike and it came out looking like brand new (clean and beautiful). They tuned up the bike, wrapped the handle bars, trued the wheels and thoroughly cleaned my bike. Later I went back and had the tires and tubes replaced. Thank you very much for a job well done.

I've been reluctant to write this review since I've been a long time supporter of this business and have given them stellar reviews in the past. The short version is that they have top notch mechanics but an owner that should never interact with customers or his own employees. His is probably a terrific mechanic but he has wild mood swings that can sadly swing your way and no one needs that. Especially a super loyal customer.

Having gotten into biking during Covid, I was looking for a local bike shop that would be able to tune up some of our older bikes. I can tell you that John is not only very professional, but takes the time to patiently explain what needs to be done. He was also very honest, and explains what should not be done as well. I wish more small businesses treated their customers like Flat Tire. I will always take my bikes to this LBS, and highly recommend that you make the trip to do so. Be sure to call in advance, because reservations are needed during Covid. Although they are busy, their service is worth

We stopped by today after our ride. We wanted to look at the merchandise as my buddy wanted a hat. I wanted to look at their stock of jerseys and helmets. However, we were basically told that if we can't be more specific, we couldn't even go in and look around. So much for trying to support small businesses and the economy in general.
Before everyone throws down the Covid BS excuse, we had masks, the employee had a mask and quite frankly, we went in several other stores in town and had zero issues.

After looking around at several bike shops I purchased an ebike from Fat Tire Bike Shop. I have another on order there as well. John was the sales person and he was fantastic! He took a lot of time with us when we took delivery of the bike. He made sure everything was adjusted correctly and made sure we knew how everything worked... power modes, shifting, brakes, battery etc. He even went over a lot of safety points which was really great. He went above and beyond to get us up and running. He is very knowledgeable about the bikes. We could not have been more impressed. I would not buy a bike

I can't thank John and Ben enough for their help and customer service while getting a bike from them. I'm from CA and I couldn't find the bike I wanted here so I reached out to AZ stores and John helped me over the phone and made the process so smooth and easy, can't thank him enough for his amazing customer service and help! When I arrived Ben helped me load up my dream bike and I left a very happy customer. I would highly recommend these guys because they will make sure you're taken care of. Very disappointed in my experience. Called during lock down to get a couple bikes. Was told they were out of stock and would not come in till 5-11. Called on 5-13 when I did not hear back. Was told my bike was in, but one for my wife was not. Said OK, I'll pick mine up and wait on the other one. Was told he didn't think it was assembled and would check and call me back. Waited a couple days, no call. Then I left a couple messages. No call back. I gave up. Very poor service. Would not recommend.

I don't think these guys really care whether they get positive reviews or not, they just do their job, and that is why I love the place. This is a shop you would expect to find in any mountain town. There are a number of characters who work there and I say that with the utmost respect, that gives the place credibility in my mind.
I recently purchased a new mountain bike from them and was surprised and impressed by the treatment I received. The geometry of mountain biking has changed significantly over the years and I knew nothing about being fitted correctly until I went there. Kaolin
