I was born in Maine and grew up in the Binghamton, NY area. I am married to Marie and we have two children, Sarah and Daniel. We have a beautiful little kitty named Zoe. Upon completion of my orthodontic training, we wished to stay in the upstate New York area to be close to family and to take advantage of the many great places and activities.
I like to snow and water ski, play golf, play volleyball, go fishing, boating, hiking, and camping. I run to try to stay in shape and have completed ten marathons. I like doing yard work and have most recently begun kayaking.

Services
As a matter of convenience to patients, Dr. Malsch also offers an automatic draft from checking accounts or credit cards. We will review all the fees associated with treatment and the financial options available during your complimentary orthodontic consultation. It is our goal to provide the highest quality of orthodontic treatment that is affordable to you and your family!
Yes, there is a small fee, as the appointment is scheduled for 30 minutes with Dr. Malsch to evaluate the patient, provide education, and discuss potential orthodontic options. As a rule of thumb, we like to evaluate young patients after the 6-year molars erupt and the front permanent teeth just start to appear.
It's more important than ever to brush and floss regularly when you have braces, so the teeth and gums are healthy during orthodontic treatment. Patients who do not keep their teeth clean may require more frequent visits to the dentist for a professional cleaning. Adults who have a history of gum disease should also see a periodontist during orthodontic treatment.
The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that most children should have an orthodontic screening by age 7. This allows Dr. Michael Malsch to determine if orthodontic treatment will be required and the best time for the patient to be treated. Many of the dentists in our community have been trained to identify orthodontic problems early, and may refer you to our office earlier than age 7.

I went to Dr. Malsch for 4 years long ago (2001-2005). I looked like a jack-o'-lantern before, and came out with straight teeth. I still have my original permanently attached bottom retainer, which has never had to be reattached. I was never good about wearing my upper retainer, yet I can still wear it because my teeth have not moved. Dr. Malsch got my teeth right the first time, and has prevented me from requiring any more orthodontistry. Additionally, everyone in the office was very friendly and always professional. Very highly recommended.
