Canale Tonella Funeral Home and Cremation Services, an independently owned and family operated funeral home in Marquette, Michigan since 1893, strives to bring a new vitality to funeral service. We do so by reflecting on the life of the person who has died through video tributes, memory boards, eulogies by family member and friends and other caring ways that commemorate that special person.
Marquette native, Mark Canale became the sole owner of Canale Tonella Funeral Home and Cremation Services in 1986. A 1975 graduate of Marquette Senior High School, he attended Northern Michigan University and ultimately graduated from the University of Minnesota Department of Mortuary Science in 1979.
Today there are more options than ever on how to celebrate a life lived. Choosing burial as your final disposition allows you to have a final resting place with options to have a personal celebration. We believe that no two people are alike and no two services should be alike either. Through traditional or contemporary services, many are turning to unique, personalized ways of honoring a life lived and aiding the grieving process.
Cremation as a disposition can be, and should be, just as personal as a burial and funeral service. Personalizing a cremation with a celebration of life can be very therapeutic. A celebration gives you and your family something to concentrate on as you relive memories. We offer many ways to personalize a service.

Several years ago, my mother chose the Canale-Tonella Funeral Home to pre-plan her funeral. She had very definite ideas of what she wanted at the time of her death. Mark Canale and his staff were wonderfully supportive, kind and helpful in caring for our family when my stepfather died. Mark was incredibly gentle and patient when working with my 90 y.o. mother and made sure her desires for the memorial service were met. These folks are very professional and comforting. I meet them when I was in state of shock and confusion. They took the time to explain all the details of services available. Listened to what I was trying to describe that I wanted to do. Gave me opportunity and choices to change my mind. They accommodated all my needs with care and hospitality. We can't say enough about the professionalism and compassion shown by Mark Canale and his staff. Unfortunately, we had two funerals in 2019 and he handled every aspect of the arrangements and made the situations much easier to endure. All details of the church, gravesite and all other aspects were taken care of and all of our wished granted for memorable and respectful events. Mark and his staff were very accessible and helpful. I have dealt with Mark Canale 4 time since 1980. Each time I have found Mark and his staff to be very compassionate, caring, understanding, and extremely helpful. This last time they were even more compassionate if that's possible because I was make arrangements for my daughters funeral which was totally unexpected. My 2 sons know that when I leave this work they are to have that Funeral Home called. I would definitely recommend The Canale Tonella Funeral services to anyone that would ask me.
