Melissa founded Santee Acupuncture in 2017. She is a California Licensed Acupuncturist and nationally certified Diplomate of Oriental Medicine. Melissa earned a Master of Science degree in Traditional Oriental Medicine after being certified in Asian Bodywork Therapy.
Clinical internships included in-patient oncology and out-patient chronic pain at Rady Children's Hospital in San Diego, and she earned a certificate in Acupuncture and Moxibustion, Tui Na, and Internal Medicine in Sichuan, China, at Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Hospital.Melissa is a mother of two and enjoys visiting family and friends out of town whenever possible.

Acupuncture is a relaxing method of healthcare which involves the placement of very thin needles through the skin at specific points on the body to maintain a natural state of harmony. Cups are applied to the surface of the body using suction created by heat, which loosens muscles, encourages blood flow, and sedates the nervous system.
As you enter the suite you'll feel immediately at ease. Once you've checked in for your appointment at the front desk, you may have a seat in the courtyard or your assigned treatment room, and settle in amid the gentle sounds and subtle aromatherapy. Take a deep breath and exhale. You are invited to relax in the comfort and safety of this healing haven.
Your first visit will last an hour, up to 90 minutes. Please have a light snack beforehand. You can bring completed intake forms or arrive ten minutes early to fill them out in-office. Once inside the treatment room, you will have a conversation with your practitioner about your chief complaint, medical history, and lifestyle.
The theory in Chinese Medicine is that "qi" (pronounced CHEE) runs along pathways, or meridians, in the body. When qi is blocked or flowing improperly, pain or illness occurs. Various therapies can help to stimulate the movement of qi thus alleviating pain or dysfunction and restoring health. Your body is an integrated whole.

I received acupuncture, cupping, traction, and massage from Melissa Marcy and got relief from nerve pain due to degeneration of my c5 and c6 vertebrae. The office and therapy room are very clean, calming and private. Melissa is so knowledgeable and professional and equally personable and comforting. 1st timer to both acupuncture and fire cupping and I am extremely satisfied. Melissa was very thorough in her process and made me feel welcome and comfortable. I'm not a skeptic, but was just a little unsure of what to expect with the outcome. The needles weren't painful and the cupping didn't burn, not like what we think at all. Once the process started, I literally felt my stress and anxieties melt away and really felt that inner peace.
