Elsie's Place
Elsie's Place is located in the Ulster county Hamlet of Wallkill at the intersection of Route 208 and Route 300. Centrally located, just 12 miles equidistant from New Paltz and Newburgh. Elsie's Place offers a homestyle setting and offers a great place to unwind with friends or dine with family. The Restaurant is named for Elsie the Cow, the mascot for Borden Milk products.

The Borden family created the infrastructure for the Hamlet of Wallkill and even had their "home farm" here. The name, "Elsie's Place" seemed a pleasant fit for the location of the restaurant and the town's heritage. The restaurant is a gathering place for both locals and city people who recognize the value and enjoy our home-cooked meals.

Worst experience. We got food via door dash which the gentleman we do not blame. He came within minutes from picking up our food. The pizza, fries, macaroni and cheese, and pretzel were COLD. The pulled pork sandwich was warm, but covered in so much barbecue sauce it didn't even taste good. The shared Bavarian pretzel container had a cheese outside, which did not have a top on it so the Chi sauce went everywhere, and one person or potty is allergic to cheese. We literally were completely turned off by the food, and I'm never ordering again. I truly want my money back. If I could give

The service was good. I paid for dinner and the comedy show. The dinner was over cooked. When we finished eating dinner, they asked us to move from our seats that we had a reservation for. And they asked us to sit in two chairs in a corner. So I left without even listening to the comedians. I am African American.

The servers was good. The food taste like microwave food. It’s over crowded. It’s not comfortable place for people of color. I purchased tickets and made reservations and was asked to change my seat and was moved to the corner of the restaurant so other people could sit. Waste of money time and energy.

We enjoy hanging out. Yesterday we visited this magnificent place which we didn’t know before. We passed a delightful experience there with very good food and a professional crew and a great chef. We added this venue in our phone list and we will no doubt visit again soon. We deeply recommend.

Elsies has delicious food! The Cobb salad was an all inclusive trip to yumsville. And I’ve never tasted such a delicious pesto chicken sandwich. I’ve never had such an attentive waitress. She brought me my own glass, with lemon, after I took a sip of my husbands.
Coming back for sure!

This place should be the absolute last place you ever decide to eat. If the hot dog guy, empanada truck or Stewart’s hot pockets aren’t in stock then stop in at Elsies. The home of the “we don’t have that tonight” it could be the pizza, the wings or the specials they forget to wipe off the bathroom window it’s never a good meal. There’s one bartender for the entire place who cooks the food, serves the food and then makes the drinks. The place would be better off putting a microwave behind the bar and serve popcorn. Best of luck if you ever find yourself desperate enough.

Not only is the staff super friendly and helpful (I've only done take away due to Covid so far) but the food is good!

BBQ was loved by my two brothers and partner. Lots of BBQ sauce. The ribs were gone in an instant. Take away with fries is so hard b/c they get soggy but even so these were delicious. Well seasoned, perfect amount of salt, and I enjoyed them even not being crisp.

I had Buffalo chicken pizza and it was spicy- just like it should be! Even reheated two days later was good. Will definitely order from them again and hopefully be back in person!

This is a challenging review to write. I want to be so supportive of local owned restaurants, I really do.

I ordered through DoorDash as I've had issues with their own sites online order and orders placed over the phone. The last DD order was fine. Tonight, the order never got there. I arrived to pick up food and was told sorry, both DD and GrubHub were having issues and no orders were being received. Oh, and 1/2 the items you ordered aren't actually on the menu.

Ok, I'll place my order here then please. Had to wait 8-10 minutes to place my order while he took other orders, filled

Glad I ignored the bad reviews right on top of this page. The food was excellent. Quant and woodsy ambiance added to the charm. And the service was good as well.

Had a great time with my dad, we had some nice drinks, atmosphere was welcoming, and the food was to die for, especially the french fries. The waiter was also very nice to us, this is definitely underrated! We will come again!

One of the joys of traveling around the country is finding a place like this. If you love food or simply the hospitality industry, you need to visit here. The food was fantastic. This is good old fashioned hospitality. One of the highlights of our adventure so far.

More COWBELL!

Elsie's Place is THE place to grab a cocktail, some delicious food, and.. some great live music.

The place is kitschy and homey. The bartenders and servers are very nice. The place is decorated with love...lots of "Elsie's" all over the place.

I've been there on Sundays for the Open Jam, and on a Saturday to catch a band. Both were GREAT TIMES.

THANKS Elsie's. I will be back.

Great food, great service, great atmosphere. Only problem would be the awkward bathrooms. But all in all a great place to go when hungry.

New to the area - we were hoping to find our new neighborhood place. Sadly, I don't think this will be it.
I had a pasta dish that was bland. The pizza looked good, though.

Tried Elsie's after seeing the reviews and I wonder who wrote them. The service was sooo slow and the food was horrible!! I had the pulled pork dinner and was only able to eat the fries and cornbread the pork was salty and very spicy, I had 1 bite of it and left the rest. My husband had the pulled pork sandwich and is still feeling sick from it. This hole in the wall is a must miss. Eat there at your own risk!!!

Food and service were great! We had the pretzels and pierogis appetizers, both were very delish. I had the pulled pork and hubby had the 3 meat platter (platters came with cornbread and fries) plus we added the mac and cheese and it was great - Hubby felt it was soupy, whereas I thought it was good the way it was. It's a matter of preference, thick or thin sauce, the flavor was there! My 4 stars is simply based on the whole experience, it's very causal yet comfortable, however while portions were plenty for me, Hubby felt that for $24 his portions could have been larger.

Probably the most underrated restaurant in the area. Not only is Elsie's food excellent, but the owner (who often also waits tables and tends bars) is very friendly. The food is a good mix of comfort food mixed with an eclectic array of specials that test the range of the kitchen (which is clearly pretty broad!). Sure the decor might be a little rustic, but it is all part of the charm that is Elsie's. While the menu and occasional live music may be geared towards the locals (which I have been part of for about a year), the warm and welcoming spirit of Elsie's is worth checking out

This is such a cute place to eat some really good food. I came on a Wednesday afternoon for a date and ordered a pesto chicken wrap and it was so delicious. The bread was nicely toasted and the chicken was delicious. The lemonade was an interesting color but tasted fresh and good. The waitress was so nice and I tipped her 40% because she was great. I have been here before and I will definitely come back in the near future. Prices were good and food was better. Also, decor gave off a cute home style country kitchen looked which I really like.

Cute side of the road bar and restaurant. We both had the sausage and bean soup special, delicious!! It was really tasty. $2 Amstel Light beer specials during NFL games. Really enjoyed this place and would have stayed longer if we weren't heading someplace else.

Stopped in on our way back
From Saratoga. First time. Place was great. Didn't have the appetite for lunch but enjoyed these really good Bavarian pretzels. Delicious Bloody Mary. IPA on draft. Lost a lot at QuickDraw but someone should have cut them self off! Loss was definitely made up for by the exceedingly friendly, personable, and accommodating service/attitude from our bar maid/ owner. Can't wait to go back. Thank you!!

Walked into this place thinking I was in the wrong place. First off, you walk right into a bar setting, kinda dingy. Walked past the bar and some looks, as we approach the dining area we ask one of the waitress whether we can choose a table or wait to be seated, to which she replied, which ever... ok.
Ordered drinks and upon needing to use the restroom I discovered it to be very unkempt.
Food wasn't all that great, salmon was overcooked and dripping in butter, rice was over seasoned, although I did enjoy the side of steamed vegetables.
Needed sustenance, got sustenance . So unless you are

We went (2) people. The food was good. I had the all you can eat crab legs and he has the linguini with meat balls and there were 3 draught beers. They added a 20% gratuity to the bill. Now both me and the person I was with are excellent tippers. I find this a horrible practice and will not be back again. Especially because the service I was forced to tip for was mediocre at best. Sad.

The reviews made me think this place was something to look forward to. Unfortunately I feel like I wasted my money here instead. The BBQ brisket I ordered was smothered in a sauce that was heavy on the acidic side vs sweet which I prefer.

I was pleased to see a big portion of brisket until I realized there was a huge slice of bread hiding under the meat which caused me much confusion as the bread was just smothered in sauce to the point that it was inedible...why not put it on the side?...The mac and cheese was unforgivable. It tasted and looked like they poured a velveeta or kraft mixture
