Goldstein earned his B.S. in Pharmacy from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in 1982 and Doctorate in Optometry from Northeastern Oklahoma State University College of Optometry in 1986. He then joined the United States Air Force and relocated to San Antonio where he served as an Optometrist at Kelly AFB Clinic.
