Services
Licensed and certified school psychologists provide assessments to help answer many referral questions. Comprehensive psychoeducational evaluations are designed to identify the specific strengths and needs that influence academic, social, and/or emotional functioning. In an initial meeting with a psychologist, referral questions, previous testing, and student's age inform the nature of the planned evaluation.
The Bryn Mawr Center offers a broad range of interventions including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), family therapy, behavioral intervention, play therapy, parent counseling, and insight-oriented therapy. Psychologists use a collaborative process to develop social/emotional functioning, improved family communication, and overall healthy adjustment.
Certified school psychologists provide services to middle school, high school and college students exhibiting executive function weaknesses in school and at home. Coaching is provided in time management, study skills, organization of materials, planning and completion of long-term projects, test-taking strategies, and self-advocacy skills.
Psychologists are available to review existing records (e.g., evaluations, IEPs, and report cards) and meet with families to discuss diagnostic information, IEP recommendations/revisions, and possible additional interventions or other relevant planning. Psychologists may also accompany parents to school meetings in order to assist in the development or revision of IEPs/ 504 plans as part of the multidisciplinary team.
