Facing the challenges of divorce can be daunting for anyone, especially if children are involved. It takes a village, as they say, to protect you and your family as you move through the life-changing issues brought about by divorce. As such I have worked to create a firm where that mindset is valued.
I am a member of the American Association of Collaborative Professionals and the New Mexico and Albuquerque Association of Collaborative Professionals. I have worked with families and children in the community as a board member of Outcomes Inc. in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and currently serve as a member of the Albuquerque Hispano Chamber of Commerce.
Although few aspects of a divorce go smoothly or agreeably, issues involving a couple's children are often among the most divisive. Arrangements regarding child support are no exception, as it can be easy for each parent to feel like he or she got the worse side of the deal.
This makes it important for parents who are divorcing or already separated in Bernalillo County, New Mexico, to understand their rights as parents as well as their means of dealing with child support issues.According to the website of the New Mexico Human Services Department, paternity must be established before a parent can be ordered to pay child support.

New Mexico is a community property state. When facing a divorce settlement that means monies acquired by either spouse during the marriage and all assets acquired with those earnings are considered community property, owned equally by husband and wife. Assets that were owned prior to the marriage or were acquired by a spouse during the marriage as a gift or inheritance is considered separate property.

My ex and I were court ordered to use Hartman for mediation. I felt that she was on the opposing counsel's side from the beginning. She told me that I should just let my children eat "beans and rice" instead of ask for back child support from my children's father. Then, when the opposing counsel pulled out a bogus case that was undocumented as a reason to not pay the child support, she sided with them because she stated that the attorney that fought that case was "well-known" in town, and if he couldn't win that case then how was I to win? So, to sum it up we paid way to much money for her to side
