O'Brien Funeral Home
In 1942, Thomas P. O'Brien moved his funeral home from downtown Bristol, where it had been located since its founding in 1909, to 24 Lincoln Avenue in Forestville. At that time, wakes were held in the homes of the deceased. Mr. O'Brien foresaw a gradual shift in this practice and wanted to provide a facility that could maintain the ambiance of that traditional atmosphere, which he felt was an important part of helping people deal with their loss.

The O'Brien Funeral Home has since stood as an emotional landmark for many Bristol and Forestville families. You are welcome to call us any time of the day, any day of the week, for immediate assistance. Or, visit our funeral home in person at your convenience.

O’Brien’s Funeral home and especially Jay really did an incredible job helping myself and my family through a very difficulty time. Unfortunately no arrangements were ever made or discussed by my Dad and while we were in a state of shock and overwhelmed as the result of the sudden passing of my Dad Jay assisted us through the entire process and… all of our ever changing decisions. We had extenuating circumstances that Jay and his staff easily handled and also assisted with both military honors and Ct State Police Honor Guard and motorcycle escorts. The preparation of my Dad,

It has been a little over 6 months since my Mom passed away. Some of the sad memories of her final days are starting to fade, but the beautiful memories of her Funeral at O’Brien Funeral Home are so vivid. From the moment we stepped through their doors into their peaceful, historical and perfectly decorated building, there was no doubt that… O’Briens was the perfect venue for her and our family. They helped me and my husband through everything! Their professionalism and caring was unsurpassed. They led me through each step to ensure that we would have nothing to worry about and

Since my Mom does not have an active Facebook account, I am posting her personal review of O’Brien Funeral Home....
The O’Brien Funeral Home handled my husband’s funeral in a compassionate and caring manner honoring all of our wishes including that his family, with whom he has been estranged for over 10 years, not be included in the obituary or be… present at the service. They were not involved in the arrangements and unaware of the cost. Their comments are inappropriate and unfair. I would recommend the O’Brien Funeral Home to any family in need. They went beyond

Very disrespectful on how they treat a family. Went there to pay respects and got nothing but disrespected. How can someone treat a family member that was trying to just go see there brother/uncle and that’s how they treat someone that’s just going there to pay some respects and get turned away because someone that caused a scene and the other… person walked away and said nothing and it was there fault. How can a funeral home treat someone who is clearly going to pay respects because they were hurt and close to them. Have nothing good to say about this place at all. Everyone

I just want to say I feel this place is just one of the worst places I have ever been to, for any funeral director or one that believes in our God to turn a whole family away from seeing there brother / uncle one last time and giving there final farewell wishes because of one crazy person, is just unthinkable and disgusting I was totally at awe… when he came to them and said they all do not belong, and there was like 20 family members... how could they be alright with doing such a thing .... when really perhaps they should have secretly offered a few minutes of viewing after wards !! I really
