Highland Assisted Living & Memory Care
The philosophy and mission of Highland Assisted Living and Memory Care is to always serve our resident's and families in a manner that instills confidence and trust in all duties we perform on their behalf. As a licensed "Home for the Aged", our primary goal is to maximize the quality of life for each resident, and to give each family member the peace of mind that comes from knowing that your loved one is well cared for.

We pride ourselves on our home-like feel, and quaint setting. Our comfortable rooms, home-cooked meals, and specially trained staff, all help to make the residents feel right at home. Mike grew up in Jackson and is an MSU graduate, with degrees in Turfgrass Science, and Agronomy. After working in the golf course business for several years, he had the opportunity to purchase what is now Highland in 2006.
Services
Highland is dedicated to providing the best possible assisted living care as well as support for elders living with memory loss. Providing a Therapeutic, high Quality of Life environment, that gives our families Peace of Mind every day, is what we're all about at Highland. Our staff enjoys providing person centered care that is dignified, nurturing, stimulating and safe.
It's important to maintain stability and routine with the residents. For this reason, we've worked hard to retain good employees. We understand that it takes a certain type of individual to care for the elderly and those who may be diagnosed with dementia. Therefore, the supervisory staff at Highland work diligently to recruit only those individuals who possess desirable personality traits and have the willingness to serve.
At Highland, we pride ourselves on finding ways to create a quality living experience for each of our residents. Every day our goal is to meet each individual where they are, and meet their needs, whatever they may be. We take the time to sit and read a book with a resident or walk with a person that just wants to take a walk.
Our Person-Centered Care approach at Highland is the foundation of our caring, nurturing environment and promotes therapeutic healing qualities for each resident. Our staff is trained to affirm and develop each resident's capabilities and individuality. Assistance is provided only as needed, therefore protecting the resident's dignity and enabling each person to retain as much control over their own life as possible.
Peace of Mind comes from knowing that your loved one is in the caring hands of our knowledgeable staff. Our registered nurse is on-call 24 hours/day, along with bi-weekly physician visits to the facility. We also partner with Allegiance Hospital's Department of Behavioral Health, which specializes in Geriatric Psychiatric Medicine for monthly visits.

Home-like atmosphere with better staffing ratios than other facilities in Jackson. Hands-on caring management by owner Mike.

While my mother's stay was brief, before she pasted, she enjoyed the people and the staff. While I was there visiting, the were outstanding to me , and to the other residents. I could not have asked for better care for my mom. my hats off to each of you the staff at Highland. If I find the need for that kind of care in the future, that's the place I want to go.

Compared to many facilities this place is a dive. You can tell they don't put much effort and money into the interior.

I want to send a thank you to the staff at Highland. We have used this facility several times and have always been very satisfied with their level of care for my husbands mother. When we pick her up she always has a peaceful & happy look on her face and appears to be very well taken care of. The entire staff is always very polite and professional towards me. We appreciate this and plan to continue to make use of this assisted care unit in the future. Thank you from the family of Marylou Rouster

My Grandpa stayed there for a few months and declined a lot while there. He had lost weight and became dehydrated because they didn't make sure he drank enough fluids. The aides seemed to pay more attention to their cellphones then to the patients.

Yesterday was a very special day for our family. My Mother's brother was in town and she had not seen him in 3 years. My Mom (Kay Rocco) was so happy to see him and both my Sister and I. She even called us by name which she has not done in several months. We had a wonderful lunch and a wonderful day day. This facility truly cares about each… and everyone of their residence and knows their wants and needs and attends to them like they were their own family. We are truly blessed to have her at Highland and receiving the special care you give her.

Hello my name is Rhonda Smithson and my sister is Karen Adams. My mother had lived with me in North Carolina and with her being 89 years old I thought it would be in her and my siblings best interest to move her back near them to my home state of Michigan where they all reside. My sister and I were fortunate to find Highland Assisted Living and… Memory Care. First of all I spoke with Mike McElroy, the administrator, who walked me through every detail and option. Mike was very helpful and returned every phone call and message in a timely manner. He is one of the most most professional, kind

My mom moved to Highland in March 2016, because she needed more care and assistance than the independent living facility she was living in could provide. The staff at Highland is excellent, and I've been very happy with her care. They have activities for residents every day, and the building is very clean and well managed. I would recommend Highland to anyone looking for a good place for their loved one.
