In 2005, Pro Football Hall of Fame Bucs Linebacker Derrick Brooks and the Edward J. DeBartolo Family joined forces, through their charitable organizations, to create Brooks DeBartolo Collegiate High School (BDCHS).
Their goal was to open a school that would provide a quality education, similar to that of the numerous private schools in Tampa, but without the staggering price and to provide a higher opportunity for achievement to students who may otherwise not excel in a large classroom setting.Brooks DeBartolo Collegiate High School became a reality in 2007, when the Charter application was approved by the Hillsborough County School Board.

Services
At Brooks DeBartolo Collegiate High School there is a collection of dynamic, dedicated faculty and staff who create a caring, safe learning and working environment for our school community. Teachers at Brooks DeBartolo must meet all state teaching certification requirements and work towards continuous improvement of instructional strategies and collaboration through professional development and continuing education.
We are accepting 10th and 11th grade applications for the current school year (2021-2022). All other lotteries for the current school year are closed and have wait lists. Each year we have a growing number of student applications. When the number of student applications exceeds the number of available seats, we hold a lottery.
BDCHS is founded on the belief that, given the necessary resources and opportunities, every student has the potential to realize his/her dreams. By providing students a high quality, challenging education with rigorous and relevant curricula, students will be equipped to make valuable and productive contributions to our community.

When BDCHS was founded in 2007, our emphasis was on achieving in the classroom before establishing an athletic program. After academic success the Phoenix Athletic program launched in the 2008-2009 school year with four FHSAA sports: Volleyball, Boys Basketball, Girls Basketball and Baseball. Today BDCHS competes in 15 boys and girls sports within the FHSAA.

Going to brooks was a struggle, the kids are awfully rude to one another, the teachers have clear grading biases towards children that they agree with politically, and much more. After being forced to go here for 4 years I can safely say that no one should go here unless they are a clown 🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡

I know Derrick Brooks as a stand up guy. I am one of his biggest fans even in college a d I'm a Canes fans. Our daughters also play against each other occasionally in softball. I truly feel like this guy is truly blessed and heaven sent because it seems like that anything he puts his hands on turns to gold. Work ethic is impectable.
