The Purple Sage Motel has newly remodeled rooms, and is the perfect center point for touring Bryce Canyon National Park, Zion National Park, Grand Canyon National Park, and Capitol Reef National Park. We're located in Panguitch, Utah, which is located in the center of Southern Utah. We're surrounded by beautiful sights, great fishing and a whole lot more.
The Purple Sage brings a touch of the past to the present. Reminiscent of Zane Grey's novel set in the Southeastern part of Utah, this small motel is run by a friendly family. It's within walking distance of the restaurants and antique shops in Panguitch. The accommodations are clean and quaint. Clean, nice motel and the owner gave us a tip to go out of Bryce east on highway 12 (scenic route).

Room was clean. Despite being assured quiet by the manager there was steady highway noise. Shower only ran warm for about three minutes and then ice cold for about 5 minutes.
When this was mentioned to the manager in the morning it's was met with indifference and speculative explanations with no offer of any kind of compensation.

Visiting the purple sage is a must for anyone who appreciates nostalgic design, customer service and/or wants a great night’s sleep!
The exterior is gorgeous. The buildings are white painted brick + sienna red doors + freshly painted white door trim. They’re accented with an adorable white table and chairs set just outside every door. The buildings also have amazing details like neon & marquee-style ‘MOTEL’ signs on the roof tops.

This was one of the best budget motels we stayed in during our month-long road trip. It's charmingly dated, and very well-kept. The owner is super sweet, and she clearly takes a lot of pride in the place. Our room was spotless, the bed was comfy, and the exterior was freshly painted and tidy. The wifi was a little slow, but totally usable for email and basic browsing. The owner had some ice available in her office, and she let me charge my EV from one of her outdoor power outlets overnight. We'd absolutely consider staying here again!

This is sorta tied in with my review on Aspen Cove Resort at Lake Panguitch Lake.

It was so horrible there we drove back to the city of Panguitch to get a room.
We were basically shopping by curb appeal. We passed on Days Inn and a few other motels on Main street. What caught our eye was how clean The Purple Sage looked from the outside. The clincher were the words "Color TV" on the marquis! NO way, color tv? We had to check it out.
The owner/proprietor was very nice. No fridge in the room but she had loaner coolers for ice. The Ice machine was always

I stayed here for 5 nights as I was in town for the Bryce Canyon Half Marathon with Vacation Races.
Pros:
1. Owners and workers are incredibly helpful, friendly, and accommodating
2. Room was good for the price
3. Numbered parking helps keep your spot open (small parking lot)
Cons with Pros:
1. Water temperature was inconsistent, but the pressure was really good
2. No fridge or microwave in the rooms, but they have a mini fridge and microwave in the office if needed and unlimited ice for your cooler
Overall, I would definitely stay here again.

This is a basic clean MOtel. Two full beds, a tv, air conditioner in the wall, and a bathroom. Nothing fancy, but clean. Not a hang out and relax place, but a place to get a good nights rest.
I'd come back, but I'd also look at the one or two other no so scary options in town. There are lots of questionable places, but Purple Sage is not one of them. Purple Sage is quiet, and clean.

If you're looking for a budget motel to just sleep and shower, this your place. We stayed two nights with 4 people on a holiday weekend and paid a total of $198.
Plenty of hot water, great water pressure, and clean towels. Newish carpet and linens. Rooms are small. Furniture is older but okay. The room smelled and looked clean. They've added power strips to the outlets for charging your electronics. Free WiFi.
No fridge nor microwave which we prefer, but there is an ice machine you can use for your own cooler. Nice location just one block from the local market.

Do not let the appearance fool you. We are nearing the end of a 3 week trip and this was one of the nicest motels we stayed in (mostly stayed in 2-3 star chain places like Courtyard). Best shower head of any. Room was very clean. Bed was great. If you're a couple, when one of you moves, the other can hardly tell. Really fast wifi(free btw). Descent new flat screen TV. Air conditioner worked well (we like it cold at night). No fridge or microwave, but they do have a microwave in the office. We would stay here again if we are in the area. The owners are super nice as others have said.

Let's start with this. The Purple Sage is not a 5 star hotel on the typical hotel meter but it gets 5 stars in my mind for several reasons:
1.) price $79 a night saving $100-$200 off other "near Bryce Canyon" hotels
2.) comfortable mattresses
3.) clean
4.) very friendly, helpful, and polite front desk manager
5.) lots of hot water
6.) quiet
With its retro charm and convenient location (7 miles from Bryce Canyon turn off), this hotel proved to be a winner. We later stopped by Ruby's for some souvenir shopping & I was smug knowing I had saved a bundle on a good night&apos

All that they advertise - very clean and in good repair, well run, WiFi etc. I'd stay here again anytime - and prefer it to what I saw clustered around the entrance to Bryce Canyon. Panguitch is a classic crossroads small town and if you're here - usually sightseeing and tired - this isn't a bad place to bunk for the night. From what I've seen you can find cheaper rooms locally, but they look pretty sketchy.

In trying to find a hotel/motel near Bryce Canyon Nat'l Park, I stumbled upon the Purple Sage Motel and read some other reviews on Travel Adviser and whatnot. They looked pretty positive and the price was reasonable so I went for it.
We stopped by for just one night, but were pretty happy with the digs. There's no elevator to the 2nd floor if it matters. But the room as very clean and we were thoroughly impressed with it especially for the price! They also have WiFi but I didn't try to use it.
Bryce is only about 20-30 mins away depending on how quickly you drive.

A burnt out salesman from Vegas bought this place in May last year and re-did the digs. The WiFi doesn't work too well, but the rooms are as up-to-date as you'll find anywhere in this crossroads town, and very clean. All a city slicker really ought to ask for in a place to lay your head in cowboy country.
