La Pietra is one of a kind, recycled stone surfacing that represents the new frontier of sustainable tile. This collection meets strict criteria for green building certification. Stone Source has launched five new collections that use natural materials to help promote wellness and a reconnection to the natural world.
Our articles, guides, infographics and videos have been created to help you make an informed decision about materials. Knowing the difference between high quality natural stone and others can help you choose a material that's right for your project. When it comes to stone and tiles for walls and flooring, a proper grout joint is an important part of the process.
Natural stone is one of the most luxurious materials available for architecture and interior design. Our most popular varieties are marble, limestone, quartzite, travertine and basalt. We also offer a carefully-curated selection of granite, onyx, slate and more. We stock our most popular items in deep inventory, in addition to hundreds of others available in limited stock or via special order.
The United States is home to hundreds of quarries and stone varieties. As the landscape suggests, each area of the country yields a different type of stone with a unique range of colors, veining and variation. Our domestically-quarried stones come from quarries in Vermont, Colorado, Alabama, Oklahoma, Virginia and Nevada.
Basalt is a volcanic stone, used in architecture for centuries. Although basalts boast the durability of a granite, they have the consistent coloration, markings and subtlety of a limestone. Basalt is neutral in color and doesn't etch when exposed to acidic foods, making it popular kitchen countertop material.

Just truly obnoxious and self-important human beings there. an absurd level of "appointment-only" covid theater when, even before covid, there were never more than 5 customers in that massive warehouse at a time. pick up samples there but order similar materials from somewhere else. never spend a dime there.

Actually I give Stone Source a BIG ZERO stars! When I first talked to Ed about an estimate to completions of the installation. I knew I should of not gone with this company.
They were the lowest bid. But, after I picked out my stone. Ed suggested I order another slab to make the pattern cohesive. Which in turn made my project $1800 more.

Then they miss measured the back splash on the breakfast bar. That made the bar part with a 1" gap between the cabinet. I called at least 12 times and talked to "Kelly" who assured me that the owner would return my call. Never received a call.
