Like a Bed & Breakfast, Beautiful, Amazing, Cute, quaint, historical, and cozy. An old hotel refurbished so that every room has a writers theme. Ingenious. If you’re lucky the owners ( also the caretakers) will personally serve you breakfast. Smaller, cozy rooms. Be sure that if you want one you get a room with a full shower. I had a choice between a room with a bath tub and a balcony or a room with a shower and no balcony. I still would’ve had access to my floor’s balcony, but I chose the room with the tub. I couldn’t wait to take an old-fashioned bath. The hotel south is in the Chautauqua

We spent a few days at the Spencer off season and the stay could not have been more charming. Lovely, fun, eclectic design throughout and the warm and charming hosts separate the Spencer from the ordinary. The breakfast was great and the location couldn't be beat.

I stayed here for two days. In those two days I dealt with horrible staff. They were rude and not very kind towards my wife and I. When we first got into our room it looked SOO nice but when we went to go to bed that night, we got bit up like crazy. We dont know if it was spiders or bed bugs, but our bodies were covered in bites. We also soon realized that the elevator we were using was NOT SAFE. If I were you I would NOT stay here. It was the worst experience for a very expensive price.

We stayed two weeks in the Charles Dickens room, plenty of room and comfortable bed. Two delicious meals a day and the hospitality was beyond great. We will be back!

I really wanted to love this place. The character is beautiful and the owners were nice, but unfortunately they are not doing a good job running it. Upon arrival no one was at the desk. I called and the owner said she was out for a walk and her husband should be there any minute to take us up. After about a 15 minutes wait he took us to our room, unfortunately I walked into a man changing in our room! The husband didn't know what to do so we waited another 20 minutes for the owner to come back. She had given our room away and offered us some others, none of which were what we wanted - a king bed

Not a safe place to stay. Very dirty and porch railing on 2nd floor is falling off. Pictures on website are old as this place needs a major "face lift" now. Over priced for what you get..stay elsewhere.

This hotel has a lot of great character and charm. The location is wonderful and the staff was pleasant and welcoming. The room, though smaller than expected, was cozy. All in all a relaxing time.

We were so pleased to stay at the Hotel with friends over a July weekend. The location was perfect. We could hear music from the amphitheater’s front porch. Pleasant breakfast and rooms perfectly met our needs. Owners were ever available with fabulous staff to jump in to accommodate. Hope to return this year.
