With over 1450 members in our chapter, we are the state's largest medical specialty organization including practicing physicians, family medicine residents and students. The AAFP was founded to promote and maintain high-quality standards for family doctors who are providing comprehensive health care to the public.
The Arkansas Academy of Family Physicians Board of Directors is made up of physicians from all over the great state of Arkansas. Board Members are elected annually during the membership meeting held during the Scientific Assembly. The Board of Directors meets quarterly to discuss Arkansas medical news, legislative happenings, and membership-related items.
We take our role as protectors of patient's access to care, and defenders of physicians' scope of practice very seriously. We work to promote public policies that support our mission and vision to ensure that all Arkansans have affordable and accessible healthcare. Your voice is critical to the legislative process and we hope that you will lend your voice.
The Arkansas Legislature meets on odd-numbered years in regular years. Healthcare and related bills are followed closely by our chapter. Our members are informed through our weekly Legislative Updates featuring Call to Action bulletins as needed. This program matches a family physician with a member of the State Congress and State House of Representatives.
We push important updates through our "Membership Matters" E-Newsletter so you can get timely and critical updates in your mailbox. This event provides students with the opportunity to learn more about each residency program and meet representatives from participating programs. Join us for this free event and start planning your future now!
