Masacote Entertainment grew from a chance encounter at a salsa social in New York between dancer/choreographer Ana Tinajero, and musician/dancer Joel Massicot. I joined salsa classes at Masacote in the summer of 2018. I had never really danced in my life until that point, especially not salsa, but I have improved significantly and I even started going to salsa socials semi-regularly. I had to stop going for a while because of work/school, but I recently started going again and I've found these classes to be the most fulfilling type of self-care.

Something that sets Masacote apart is the great community. Everyone is so friendly, from Greg at the front desk, to each of the instructors and even the students in the advanced classes. Tana, Audrey and

Masacote is fantastic. Maylena is an excellent teacher with contagious positive energy. She lays everything out clearly and is very encouraging and helpful. Best of all she makes the whole process fun. I even learned about some of the musical theory and not just the dance in my Intro to Salsa class. I know it can be scary to go to a dance class and put yourself out there, but I definitely encourage you to try Masacote. In one month I definitely feel like I have improved greatly and now have solid foundations to build upon.

I took the class as a Living Social deal with a friend of mine and now I'm totally hooked! Maylena who teaches the Intro to Level 1 Salsa is a wonderful teacher and such a pleasant human being that it makes the time go back so quickly. Whether you know a little or none at all, she picks up on each individual's talent and works with it.
I'm currently in level 2 with Ana (who is equally as great) and look forward to going to class and learning something new every week.

After going out to several latin dance clubs I decided to try this although I've never been much of a dancer. I really enjoyed the Intro to Level 1 Salsa class at Masacote. Maylena Chaviano did an outstanding job as an instructor. She was very patient while explaining the basics of Salsa dancing to her entry level students and even helped us practice at Ryles jazz club on Sunday outside of class. All of the instructors at Masacote are very knowledgeable and dedicated to teaching dance!!

I will definitely be a salsa addict from now on and I would not hesitate to recommend this class to

I began salsa dancing more than 10 years ago. Over this time, I've taken many classes with different instructors, and I would place Masacote's classes at the top of the list. The style of salsa dancing that they teach is awesome, and they teach students not just a series of moves, but more importantly how to be a better dancer. I think I've made great progress over the 2 years taking with them and enjoyed it tremendously. The classes are totally fun & the relatively new space at the Cambridge Athletic Club is great.

Masacote is invited to teach at Salsa Congresses around the

I never really considered myself much of a dancer, especially when it comes to salsa. It all seemed so complex and for years I was content with simply grooving in my seat or tapping my foot to the music. Having recently completed the beginner level salsa class at Masacote I'm happy to say that I no longer shy away from invitations to dance and I have a burgeoning desire to fully immerse myself in Boston's salsa scene. This newfound passion is a direct result of the personable yet precise instruction offered at Masacote.

During my session, Level 1 and Level 2 classes were held in the

Boston is lucky to have the Masacote Dance Company in its midst. Masacote are an exciting and inspiring dance troupe, who create salsa every time they perform.

I first came across the company in Ryles (for those who want to see the crème de la crème of New England's salseros, head to Ryles on a Sunday night) two years ago and was immediately interested in learning to do what they do.

Ana is not only the co-founder of the company, but she is also undoubtedly their best dancer (which, seeing as they're all pretty damn good, is really saying something), and a fantastic teacher. Her
