Rolates Pilates
At Rolates Pilates, we are dedicated to maintaining the original methods that Joe and Clara Pilates set forth. We truly believe that teaching classical, authentic Pilates is the best way to naturally balance the body. We are honored to be teaching in a beautifully renovated space that was once Joe and Clara's original NYC studio, and to carry on their legacy.

I had taken Pilates with a lot of different people, but for some reason it didn't click until I found Roberta at Rolates. I have faith in everything I do knowing that Roberta completely understands what my body needs.

Pilates is a physical conditioning system that was developed in the early part of the 20th century by Joseph Pilates. The Pilates method, originally named Contrology, focuses on the core postural muscles, which help keep the body balanced and which are essential to providing support for the spine. It improves strength, flexibility and restores balance in your body.
Private Sessions- Privates are the most versatile and worthwhile way to study Pilates at any level. Beginners find the one on one attention of privates essential to mastering the very precise movements found in the Pilates method. Private appointments are the fastest way to progress in Pilates.

Our certified Pilates trainers work one-on-one with you on the studio's full range of equipment, including the Reformer, Cadillac, chair and ladder barrel, etc.Your trainer always adjusts the intensity and dynamics of your workout to your appropriate level. Even if you plan to take group classes it is highly recommended that you start out with a few privates, and take refresher privates as you can.
All Rolates Pilates classes have a maximum size of 3 people. These small group classes are scheduled by the studio at set days and hours, and follow a format set for every participant to follow. Rolates Pilates recommends a minimum of 3 private sessions before clients enter a group apparatus class.
New clients have access to a special Introductory Package of three private sessions for $210. How long is each session? Each session lasts 45 minutes. What can I expect during my first session and subsequent sessions? During your first session, we will do a general posture evaluation. We will begin with the basics - getting you to become aware of breathing, muscle, structure and how you use your body.
What is Pilates? Pilates is a physical conditioning system that was developed in the early part of the 20th century by Joseph Pilates. Joe named his conditioning system "Controlology." Today we know it simply as Pilates. Joe Pilates estimated that 95% of the people he saw had physical problems arising form bad posture and weak abdominal muscles.

I have taken Pilates for many years and this studio consistently has some of the best instructors. They take movements I have been doing for so long and point out little details that make me realize I have been doing it all wrong until their tweak!

Have taken many group classes and recently started taking private lessons. Christine is one of the instructors I try to take most often -- she is very hands on and tailors the class to the group's limits. I really appreciate having access to all the different equipment. The classes are never JUST reformer or JUST tower - you usually get an instructor who meets you where you are and has you try the chair/barrel/etc. It's honestly the best studio in NYC. I am so grateful it's right by my office.

Great Medley class with Christine. She kept an eye on our form and clearly demonstrated and explained the movements. Exercises even without springs/equipment were challenging when executed correctly. Looking forward to my next class.

I have gone to Pilates studios around the country and have been lucky to have participated in reformer classes with a number of excellent teachers. However, there is something unique and very special about Roberta. If you want to try Pilates or if you're experienced, don't miss an opportunity to come here.

I have studied in 4 studios in 2 states, and Rolates Pilates is "the best" Just superb! Clean as a whistle!! Lovely place to change and leave clothes safely between sessions. The MOST complete equipment I have seen or heard tell of. When new equipment is coming out, different staff test it on their own, use it, have training themselves and then share with other staff all the possibilities for how and when it might really help students. Roberta, the owner, trains, coaches and inspires instructors and there is genuine and interchange between them all on how to "get smarter"

The studio space is huge with a lot of equipment and the instructors are super talented.

I was welcomed by my instructor and the studio owner and received a follow up note that said "I hope we see you soon".

I worked with Chrissy and she is tough but good - doesn't let you get away with bad form which is exactly what I need.
