Matthew joined WDA in 1999. He is an innovative designer with extensive experience in traditional and contemporary design. His work has ranged from affordable housing developments to award winning luxury houses. Matthew is skilled in masterplanning and detail design on large sites including Hanger Farm, a development of circa 350 individually designed dwellings, performing art centre, public park and tennis club.
Matthew's education experience recently includes built projects for Talbot Heath School, Victoria Education Centre and Lytchett Minster School. Matthew also has experience in designing offices, including a number of high profile contemporary renovation projects. Matthew is responsible for design and project management on small, medium and large-scale projects with contract values ranging from 200k to 20m.

We have recently worked with WDA on two small projects at our home and they are the architectural practice responsible for the original design of our house, which was completed in 2017.
They are approachable, professional and easy people to work with. Having now “lived” with the original design for our home we appreciate the thought and care that went into the design. The company has a good feel for working on contemporary properties or those with interesting features even when located in rural locations.
Highly recommended.

From the first contact, to the visit from one of the senior architects to our house and each step from there, working with Western Design has been a pleasure. The design Matt and Rebecca produced for our Yoga Studio was stunning and the pre planning meeting with Dorset council went amazingly well thanks to the great work they had done. Our experience with Western Design Architects (WDA) in one word is Fantastic thus for the second project(currently under process) choosing an architect was easy, go with WDA. If one has challenging ideas/projects then WDA and Matt will make it happen.
We have approached many architects for our first project, which was to demolish the existing house and building 2 detached houses which were complex as what I wanted was not understood and the possibility to achieve is not seen with the number of square feet of built-up area achievable. Matt had understood very clearly. Matt came in to see the site
