I have called and emailed about getting my $50 deposit back. No response. ...they actually did eventually remove the fee after seeing this review, so I changed my review from 1 to 4 stars
Other than the negative experience with getting my deposit, everything else was a positive experience. It is really is a beautiful community!

We rolled into Cheerful Valley mid-September for one night, traveling from Massachusetts toward Branson. It was on a Friday night but there were tons of available spaces. We will never figure out why they assigned us to a spot right across the road from the leech field. Because of the direction the wind was blowing, we smelled sewer gas from the time we pulled in until we pulled out the next morning. At first we thought it was a problem with our rig, but no, it was definitely coming from the campground system. Things that make you wonder why!! And charging $50 for a spot like this? We won't return

We stayed at Cheerful Valley for a month. We wanted to be in the Finger Lakes region. I read the other reviews and I can see why people rate it so high. It is truly a weekend campground, people roll in Friday, set up, start drinking and leave Sunday. Here are my reasons for the 3 star rating.
1. The roads are horrible, they try to fill them in with gravel but it washes out during the rain, you can tell the roads were paved once, probably when it was built.
2. The bathroom/shower house is old, outdated, and broken. It needs to be rebuilt.
3. The electric is old and outdated, two of my neighbors

Only gave it a four star because the roads we absolutely TERRIBLE! Our fire pit was 3/4 the way full. I did call and left a message, ask if someone could come clean it for us. NO RESPONSE! so we delt with what we had. Staff was friendly! Doesn't sound like it but we did like camping here. Only stayed one night.

Great place to camp, been there a few times this year. Staff is welcoming at the store and the campground has lots of friendly people that live there. There is some of the greenest, well kept grass I've ever seen surrounded by plenty of trees and the Canandaigua Outlet flows right through it. Kids always have a great time and there is limited Wi-Fi available (speed limit). Nice place and am glad they opened their doors to the public during this pandemic as several others have not.

What a great RV campsite. Large spacious spots, solid electricity and water. Proprietor was very helpful (even gave us some great ideas for places to visit). Saturday nite -- live band (even in the rain)! Lots of dogs and kids along with a nice mix of seasonal renters. Great 4 day stay. Trapper Jack lives there in the summer so bought hand carved welcome sign for the RV! Only slight drawback -- wifi was very weak and no TV using RV roof top antenna only. Even enjoyed the bumpy (5 mph) entrance road. (10/7-10/12, 2020)

Was there this weekend and found the staff very unfriendly and unknowledgeable about anything our site they put us on we couldnt even hook up to the water the water spicket was worn and threads were bad so it leaked. changed spots and most spots were unlevel and no guideline on where to park RV.very disappointed with the whole stay pool got over crowded no one watched for social distancing or how many were in pool. on other hand pool was clean and bathrooms and showers were closed , other campsites are all open. this is the first ive seen like this. the whole campground is a bit trashy playgrounds
