Truckee River Winery
It all started 33 years ago in the garage of two Truckee locals. For 9 years, this ski lover and his wife, both UC Davis graduates, made great wine for their friends and family in the Truckee/Tahoe community before deciding to expand. They moved the winery into a two story barn on the river where they could make 1000 cases with the help of their daughter and friends.

In 2009, they opened a tasting room on Brockway Road and expanded production to 2,500 cases annually. They specialize in single vineyard varietals and are known through out the area as producing high quality vintages year after year. In January of 2020, the tasting room on Brockway Road closed indefinitely.
Services
Beginning in a 2 car garage in Sierra Meadows, a winery begins to produce Chardonnay and Pinot Noir! For the first time in the Winery's history, tours and tastings are offered at the Barn, showcasing our production facility and mini-farm. Truckee River Winery partners with Tahoe Food Hub to offer wine to the community through their Harvest to Order propgram.
Wine and Ice Carving Competition - co-event hosted annually by Truckee River Winery at our tasting room during Snow Fest. Truckee River Day - the staff at Truckee River Winery participates in this annual day of various restoration projects for our river, meadow and wetland restoration.

Green Bucks Dollar Program - your voluntary donation of $1 (or any other amount) is matched by Truckee River Winery and then matched again by an anonymous group of donors to support various projects through the Truckee River Watershed Council - turning your $1 in to $4!
We were blessed to enjoy 10 amazing, heartfelt and community oriented years at our little "ranch" tasting room on Brockway Road. Thanks to all of the locals, second homeowners, returning vacationers, holidayers, brides, grooms, moms, dads, bocce enthusiasts, dogs, cats and even a few rabbits who made it so special.
We were very happy and blessed with additional help this year to continue this tradition and competition.

We want to express a special thank you to the Gatekeeper's Museum for offering their outdoor space, Truckee River Watershed Council for continuing to be our Non-Profit, Jones Corda Construction for sponsoring all ice blocks for contestants this year, Shines Photography for photos and fun, Leo's Electric and SnowFest for volunteers, contestants, advertising and much moral support!.
We are now offering tours, tastings and table reservations at our production facility in downtown Truckee. Please reserve today for a great time! Times are listed as local, so if you are booking in a different time zone, please convert your time. We apologize for the inconvenience and are working on a resolution.

This is a great place for a tasting. My first time wine tasting in the area and my friends wanted to bring me here. We did a tasting and I was pleasantly surprised to get a yummy cheese plate and crackers to go with it. Since my friends bought some wine, our tastings were all free. Even though it was chilly we sat outside around a fire table and enjoyed our bottle of wine. Sad to read it is closing soon.

This is a local favorite for so many reasons beyond the wine! They are so supportive of community events, have a great property, wonderful owners, family friendly atmosphere, and nice deli style food options. For someone like me who doesnt drink, it's hard to evaluate the wine, but MANY of my friends rave about it. I enjoy meeting up here with friends and relaxing during the beautiful Truckee summers. The property welcomes picnics and bocce ball among other outdoor activities. Definitely visit during the summer! You wont be disappointed

We have driven past this winery a dozen times each summer and always said we should try it. It is always packed with people on the lawn, on the bocce courts and it just looks like a great spot to hang out. Yesterday, we decided to make good on our threat to stop.

Upon arrival, it was clear this place is very dog friendly. My dog had more fun making friends than we did drinking wine! Dogs inside, dogs outside, dogs to pet, dogs everywhere! I was in dog heaven.

We decided on two different tastings, the signature tasting and the Pinot noir vertical, so we could both try lots of their options

Cozy fire, rocking chairs, friendly staff! What more can I say?

Came here with the hubby and doggie during a winter storm. Boy, am I glad we did! We were able to escape the cold and snow AND enjoy wines, cheese, and chocolate. They are super dog friendly (meaning, dogs are allowed inside the tasting room)! In fact, we got to meet their winery dog Max who is super cute.

We came while they had their Valentine's special which was $40 and included a wine, cheese, and chocolate pairing. We enjoyed that a lot! We also tried their hot mulled wine, sparkling wine tasting ($10) and regular tasting

GREAT place for couples, families, friends gatherings, even get togethers with coworkers! Dog friendly, kid friendly, etc. Sip wine, drink beer, play bocce and/or BBQ your own bringings... a great place to relax and enjoy conversation with friends!!!
Local family owned and operated. Fun in all seasons... if snowing enjoy checkers or chess or LOTS of board game options inside by the fire or barrel room. I can't say enough about how fun TRW is!! It's a hidden secret in Truckee!!

My family tends to fall in the wine snob category, but we had so much fun at this winery! We were pleasantly surprised with the taste of the wines, but the 5 stars are most importantly for the wonderful experience we had! The owners plus the one employee (that was not a part of the family) were friendly and loved small talking during our tasting. They even laughed at my husband's terrible
dad jokes. After warming up at the bar from a fun tasting, we enjoyed a glass in the shade outside while playing an outdoor game of corn hole. Apparently, this is a popular spot for seasonal bocce ball clubs

This winery has everything...Max, the wine dog, bocce ball courts, picnic tables, BBQs, good service and delicious wine. We love it here. It's fun for a couple, a group, a family, and anyone with a dog. Come here if you like wine, picnics, board or card games (available to use), bocce ball, or somewhere relaxing just outside of downtown Truckee.

Super cheap tastings but their bottles are in the $20-30 range. Great deal! Located in a small quaint house but they have a variety of hang out areas -- inside at the bar, a cool back room area, plenty of outdoor seating and outdoor games like boche.

We learned that they get a lot of grapes from Lodi and produce wines in-house and out then on tap! The folks making the wine were also serving it! They provide a great spread of cheese and charcuterie. I even had a tasty panini and they have 3 different kinds of soups available.

There are both locals and travelers. Great spot and must go for people

Friendly service, delish grilled cheese and pretty good wine.

I didn't like the Pinot as much as the red blend.

The real draw is their plentiful outdoor seating and bocce courts. Inside, the tasting room is small, unassuming, and seats perhaps 12 people. Wine is good and the staff was quite knowledgeable and friendly. I would recommend, especially during summer!

We discovered this winery during our visit to South Lake Tahoe. It was a real surprise to find a winery in the area. We tried 5 of their wines and found all to be excellent. We will definitely be back when in the Tahoe area and will recommend it to our friends.

We actually LOVED visiting here during our stay in Truckee. The girls here are super friendly and informative about their wine. It was snowing but even sitting inside near the warm fire and playing games was fun for being indoors. They have a food menu to chose from and relaxing music. When it's snowing they have BBQ pits and outdoor games. We'll be coming back anytime we're in town :)

Thank you for the amazing hospitality.

There's a winery in Truckee? Trust me I was surprised at first too!
Truckee River Winery's tasting room is a great place to meet friends for a glass of wine or beer! Relax next to the fireplace or play an assortment of card/board games in their barrel room. Great assortment of craft and local beers, artisan cheese plates & paninis to go with the most important part - the wine! The boutique style, small production wines are made in Truckee with grapes sourced from well known regions such as Santa Lucia Highlands, Chalk Hill and Lodi.
Definitely a must while visiting Truckee!
