Friendly service, honest and an straightforward evaluation of whether or not my bike was worth fixing. It needed a lot of work, but they got it done quickly and at a very reasonable cost. We will definitely be back!

Great customer service and the best pricing you can get in New Orleans. Loacation is a little odd, but it's worth going out of the way.

These guys were great. I dropped it, they called when they said they would with an estimate. They fixed only what was needed and finished it the same day.
The staff is friendly, professional, and quick. Thanks so much. I would recommend them to anyone.

Quality neighborhood bike shop with quality people! I just needed some tight pedals cracked to replace them with clipless pedals. The mechanic went ahead and installed my news pedals without charging me for any labor. Much easier and quicker than going to some of the bigger bike shops.

Will come back when open. I hear great things about this place. Note photo that shows current hours are 11-6 Tuesday to Saturday. Closed on Sunday and Monday!

Update: went back Tuesday 11:30. Waiters a few minutes for earlier customers. (1 inside at a time). Guys were courteous, super helpful and knew what to do. Left bike. Got call within 2hrs that it was fixed and ready to go. Reasonable price. Great service. I'll go back and recommend to others.

Went here to have a bike looked at. The bike we a cheap mountain bike that was several years old. It had some problems and needed new tires.

Prices were fair. Service was knowlegdable and excellent. The guy working with gave us an honest evaluation on our bike.

Based on his overview, he was honest and told us it would be cheaper to just buy a new bike based on the cost and repairs to the current bike.

We were very pleased with this experience and highly reccomend this establishment. I was very impressed with his knowledge.

Unfortunately, we weren't there long enough to take pictures

I called ahead, explained the problem and they gave me an idea of what it would cost without my even asking the cost. I was able to take my bike in right away (in the evening) and they had it done by noon the next day. It actually cost less than their quote and done right.

The people that work here are some of the nicest, and the service is super affordable and in my opinion the best in the city.

Let me put it this way. I've used yelp for years and have only ever been inspired to leave a review on this place.

Rock on Gerken's!

I went to this shop based on yelp reviews and man oh man. . . I think I've found THE bike shop.

As a girl who has ridden the roads of New Orleans and has beat up a good many bikes, I have gone to a fair amount of bike shops. I went in today dubious, but they were super helpful and kind. I took it in for just a tune-up and ended up getting a new chain, kevlar tires, and a back rack. I went to a coffee shop about half a block away while I waited for just a few hours. I thought it was going to be super pricey since I had decided to treat myself/my bike, but it ended up being super affordable

Easily the best bike shop in New Orleans if not the country for many reasons... This is why:

1) The owner and the workers will bend over backward to help you. If you need a pump, advice, or just want to talk about bikes they are always willing.

2) They have given me free parts and showed me how to install a headset. I've even been given instructions on how to properly break a chain. This is all far and beyond what they have to provide.

3) I've purchased whole frames from them and decided to the buildup by myself and foolishly I bought parts and other pieces online when if I would

Got a nasty flat and Gerken's was the bike shop between my house and my job. I had to have help getting my bike out of my vehicle, heaven only knows how I managed to wedge it in there to begin with. Hey presto, the helpful young man popped the bike out and inside we went.

It was well organized, I was given a reasonable time estimate, and quoted a ridiculously low price. I grabbed a monster lock and poufy comfy bike seat while I was there because they were so inexpensive. Got a phone call quickly after dropping the bike off, but was at work by then,so I went back the next day.

I am willing

I brought my '74 Schwinn in to have my old freewheel serviced or replaced. As it is an older bike, it was hard to find a bike shop in the city that had the tools required to replace the freewheel. In fact, most other shops near me seemed to be more bike-rental-oriented and weren't necessarily primarily repair shops. I was delighted that Gerken's mechanics had both the tools and the skills to service my bike. I left with a new freewheel and chain installed and it was roughly $30 for the whole thing.

I spent a year as a volunteer bike mechanic in Denver so 1) I usually service my

I signed up for yelp so I could review this place. Honestly I'd give it 6 stars if I could. I'm a pretty inexperienced bike owner who doesn't know any of the lingo, nor do I have any innate handiness at all.

At Gerkin's I don't have to worry about that. They are very patient in explaining in layman's terms what the deal is with my bike. I also don't have to worry about getting ripped off because the prices are always less than I think possible. Like less than I would expect just the labor to cost at a mechanical store.

The location can be out of the way for
