Toes are often overlooked and underappreciated by many of us. After all, what do they do beside rub in your shoes and often get cramped? Toes actually provide an important function during walking and as a result of that can develop problems of their own. The development of: bursa, corns, abscesses, ingrown toe nails, tendonitis, subluxations and angular deformity (Hammer Toe Syndrome) all can be produced by abnormal function of the toes.
Heel pain is most often caused by plantar fasciitis -- a condition that is sometimes also called heel spur syndrome when a spur is present. Heel pain may also be due to other causes, such as a stress fracture, tendonitis, arthritis, nerve irritation, or, rarely, a cyst. Because there are several potential causes, it is important to have a heel pain properly diagnosed.
Toenails are simply an extension of our skin. The nail, or nail plate, is made up of the same type of cells that makes up our skin, which is the largest organ of the human body. Like every other organ in the body, there can be problems. By far, the most common problem with human toenails are when they become embedded in the surrounding skin, or nail fold.
