While we first opened the doors to Liberty Vineyards & Winery in 2008, its history goes back much longer - to 1839 when the Reuben Butler family (ancestors of the Burmaster family who currently own and operate the vineyards and winery) headed west from Herkimer County, New York and settled in the small town of Sheridan, New York near Lake Erie.
They built their home on Main Road in Sheridan, just in front of the site where Liberty Vineyards & Winery now stands. The Butlers began farming the land. In the 1860s, Sheldon Rufus Butler and his family planted about 7 acres of Concord grapes.

Our beautiful tasting room features a laid-back atmosphere, where you can taste wines and browse our gift shop at your own pace. Plus, windows between our tasting room and our tank and barrel room allow you to see where the wine is made. During the warm weather months our gazebo, porches, and picnic area are available to relax and enjoy a glass of wine and bring a picnic lunch.

Knocking a point for no prices and another point for the chintzy tent I sat in when it was cold out. The wine was good. At a store I’ll give better ratings and. Call out to my favorite wine, diamond (I like it before coming here). Otherwise I’m sorry but I will not be going back to the vineyard. I didn’t get introduced to anything new because I didn’t like the presentation and felt I was treated like I.bought a tasting at moes.

Liberty is one of my favorites in this area! I recently tried their new cherry.... Awesome! So we made the trip to get some. We did a tasting while relaxing outside in some comfy chairs, great new experience! They also had frozen Diamond coladas so we HAD to try those. They share their recipe so we walked away with their diamond wine and a few others to enjoy at home. The staff were extremely friendly also!
