Eye Care Specialists of Michigan has been providing excellence in eye care in the Tri-Cities since 2003. Our office is outfitted with advanced diagnostic equipment to ensure accurate diagnosis and treatment of the vision-threatening complications of diabetes, glaucoma, and other eye diseases. Ocular coherence tomography, computerized corneal topography, pachymetry, automated visual field testing and laser treatments are all available on site.
Glaucoma is one of the leading causes of blindness for people over the age of 60. However, it can occur at an earlier age, but most commonly appears in older adults. Glaucoma is a group of diseases that affects the Optic Nerve that is vital for your field of vision. Damage is often due to increased pressures in your eye that typically do not have any warning signs.
Cataracts occur within the crystalline lens located inside your eye. The lens is the part of the eye responsible for focusing incoming light rays onto the retina to create a clear image. With increasing age, the clear lens in our eye starts to become cloudy. As cataracts progress, you may notice your vision becoming more blurry, objects appear dimmer or discolored, and you may have a harder time seeing at night or in low lighting.
It is not uncommon for patients to notice lesions (bumps or growths) on their eyelids or near their eyes. In most cases these bumps are benign (skin tags or cysts) but some can be malignant or even cancerous. Any lesion that has changed in size, shape, or color over time is considered suspicious. If you or your doctor observe any of these changes, or if the lesion is irritating to you, it can be removed.
Many people will experience floaters in their vision at some time. In most cases, this is a normal change that occurs inside the eye. It is referred to as a posterior vitreous detachment (PVD). The vitreous is a gel-like substance inside the eye. It is connected to the retina in the back of the eye, but over time the vitreous shrinks and detaches from the retina.

Dr. Laura Rickell and her staff were friendly, professional and helpful, however; once our exams (My wife and I) were completed, we had to schedule a return visit in order to pick up our prescriptions. This to me is a waste of time and resources. Our previous provider was a one stop procedure where we received our script immediately after our exams and could either order our glasses onsite or take the script to a third party for our eye wear purchase.

My husband and I have been with Dr. Bulusu since she opened. We've both had cataract surgery done by her and many pairs of glasses over all the years. Dr. Rickel, in her office, tested my eyes recently and the prescription was incorrect which I discovered after getting new glasses. This is the third time that Rickel's prescriptions were wrong and had to be corrected. I didn't purchase new glasses from Bulusu's office. I had an old pair I wanted to use and bought a pair at another optical shop. When they came back ~ yet again ~ with the wrong prescriptions, I returned

I'm a new patient at Eye Care Specialist Of Michigan. They're very knowledgeable and with the most up to date technology. Had a procedure yesterday. I told Dr Bulusu that I am afraid of needles. She was patient and assured me everything would be ok. She's awesome. The procedure went well. Thank you Dr. Bulusu!!

Very professional staff, state of the art technology in regards to equipment used to treat & diagnose, I found out more about a detached retina I had from 44 years ago than I have in all of my 62 years, I would recommend this facility to anyone with any type of eye care that is needed, best I've ever been to in the Mid -Michigan area .
