Services
I am attorney Glen L. Rabenn, and for over 40 years I have been helping my community and my clients as they undergo divorce proceedings and other family law matters. As one of the first lawyers to be certified as a family law specialist by The State Bar of California, I have dedicated my career to helping my clients as they navigate the complexities of family law in California.
Mr. Rabenn is committed to the idea that most family law matters can be resolved amicably, without a costly court battle. That is why Mr. Rabenn is now devoting a substantial amount of his time mediating family law cases for divorcing couples. In the mediation process, Mr. Rabenn assists the couple in negotiating the terms of their divorce, in a civil, non-confrontational atmosphere.
Child support was never meant to be a punishment for divorce and should not be viewed as such. Paying or getting payments for the care of your child or children is part of your duty as their parent. At the Family Law Offices of Glen L. Rabenn, we understand that you may still have unresolved emotions after your divorce.
In California, child support is calculated with a very complex algebraic formula that takes into consideration the parents' incomes, each parent's time with the child and any tax deductions that are available to either parent. There are two purposes for the guideline: (1) To provide for a minimum level of child support for a child and (2) To provide for uniformity in the calculation of child support.
Child support requests can ignite a number of emotional and financial issues for divorcing couples. It is important to understand how the state of California calculates child support, as well as what your options are if you have unique circumstances or concerns about how the request fits in with your entire divorce agreement.
