Their are six Island towns: Aquinnah, Edgartown, Chilmark (includes Menemsha), Oak Bluffs, Tisbury (Vineyard Haven is in Tisbury), and West Tisbury. Name: Bartholomew Gosnold led the first European expedition to Cape Cod, and it is believed that he named the Island after his daughter, Martha.
Aquinnah was first inhabited by the Wampanoag, a Native American people who spoke the Algonquian language. English colonists arrived in 1669. Aquinnah is a popular destination for visitors and residents. An all-around phenomenal experience! Surpassed our expectations many times over – Our Broker, Paul, not only negotiated an off market property on our behalf, but organized and oversaw several remodeling projects in conjunction while sticking to an extremely tight timeline.
