Not too long ago, the salty shores of Bohemia Folly Beach were a barren place for resident and tourist coffee lovers. Early in 2009, Eran Maron, a coffee and fresh food enthusiast, decided to change that and opened Folly's first Coffee shop of its kind: Black Magic Coffee! With just an alley way and a little elbow grease, there was something new brewing along Center Street.

They are super short staffed, so be patient with them. The staff is friendly. The wait was long. We waited 15 minutes for drinks and an hour for breakfast food. The drinks were just OK. The food was mediocre. The grits are the only thing we ordered that wasn't disappointing. One order was incorrect. In total, we spent almost two hours here just to be disappointed.

We are just arrived in town for the week last night. Did a quick search for nearby breakfast places and this cafe came up. It looks like a nice place from the website so we gave it a try. It was exactly what we needed after two days of driving. The food and the coffee was excellent, and the service was very friendly. We had the Tuscan Omelet and the waffle, both were perfectly prepared and tasted great as were the sides of bacon and turkey sausage.

Adorable cafe/diner right off folly road. Coffee is excellent and food is great with plenty of options. I enjoyed the beach burrito and the coffee. The decorations are adorable and it's just a fun environment to be in. The wait can be a little long on a weekend but you can order coffee while you wait or wake up earlier to beat the rush

Wonderful breakfast! I had the lox and hubby had a dish that resembled a garbage bowl filled with all types of meat (he loved it). Only complaining if 2 things. The young hostess with the tattoos and pierced face. Holy Cow, would it kill her if she smiled and said Good Morning?! What a first impression! Second, those metal chairs - very bad choice for a restaurant. My behind (average size) didn't fit comfortably. So pick a booth like we did. Bon Appetit 🍳

Went to Folly Beach and needed lunch on the way home so we called ahead to places to go order. So happy we did! Parking lot was packed when we pulled up which is always a good sign! My son-in-law ran inside and picked up the three lunch sandwiches which my daughter and I dove into as he pulled away. I had the Bohicket sandwich which was a sourdough bread with egg, pesto, spinach and tomato with home fries. Daughter had the Gershwin with French fries and son-in-law had an enormous plate that looked delicious. Fresh ingredients and served hot!! Great value and great food!

This place is so cute!!! Got a rose latte which was amazing. My husband loved the drip coffee. He ordered chicken and waffles with Turkey sausage. I got the greek omlette with home fries and everything was spectacular. So much flavor and so delicious!! The servers were so nice and it has such a good vibe. Can't wait to come back

We stopped at this cute little brunch dive on the hunt for a local gem- and we found it. It's an adorable house converted into the perfect spot to hit before heading to Folly Beach for the day. They have an extensive brunch menu, generous portions, quick and friendly service, and delicious drinks all the way from lattes to mimosas! Would definitely come back here on my next visit to Charleston!

Brunch.... Possibly the MOST important meal of the day and should always include the beverage trifecta of mimosa(s), water, and coffee - they have some great specialty drinks.
There are no reservations it's first come first serve and on a typical Sunday wait times are about 30 minutes - but you can grab a coffee or any of their amazing beverages from the bar while you wait.
This place is so good, it's become our Sunday (and sometimes Saturday) go-to. I've probably tried half the menu- some of my favorites: Folly Cristo (pictured) | Palmetto Sizzler | Chicken & Waffles (ask for

I'm visiting from out of town and visited this restaurant with a friend. I ordered the Palmetto Sizzler (pancakes cooked with chunks of sausage and layered with cheese eggs), a side of cheesy hominy grits, and some home fries. As for drinks, just coffee and an orange-mango mimosa. Everything was great! Service was not that great (we got forgotten about once or twice) and we had to ask twice for syrup. Everything was GREAT, even though the grits needed a bit of salt (still good!). The home fries were super flavorful and the pancake dish was soooo good. Even the coffee was fresh and crisp. I

Came in for breakfast. Prices seemed high but was ok with it due to location and decor. Waitress was very chatty and nice, but service was slow. Food came out, charged extra for cheesy grits, but cheese was about a teaspoon on top. Grits were very dry and poorly made. Breakfast platter came with 1 slice of cool,,unbuttered toast. Eggs were eggs.
My friend ordered chicken and they were just ok. Nothing special. Overall, will not be returning.

Came for breakfast with a friend. The coffee selection excited me most except that I couldn't get an Irish because it was before 10. Our waitress was nice; attentive but not too. My friend had the Folly Mess and enjoyed it. My build your own omelet was okay - not fantastic but not bad either. "Average" I guess. Sausage, cheese, and spinach.

Have been to the West Ashley location and it was a great experience. Came to James Island and still was great but I do not advise you go on Saturday or Sunday morning because it is so slow!! It took like an hour just to get food. 30 minutes for a latte. I have severe allergies and they did a great job accommodating that. The portion sizes are good and the atmosphere is good. The servers have always been attentative and friendly.

I was expecting something totally different. The food was edible! They put green onions in the grits, which is a little odd. I looked up Black owned restaurants near me and this came up. It's not black owned at all.
Overall the staff was nice, the food was OK, not really seated 6 ft from other guests, I just don't plan on coming back.

Super cute spot with great decor. I had the standard breakfast. Over medium eggs had a perfect taste. I was very pleased with them. The bacon was not as good as I was expecting. Lacking a bit in flavor and very greasy mouth feel.
The potatoes were, in my opinion, over seasoned. Too many things going on there. Same stuff in a smaller amount would have gone a lot further.
The pancake was not my favorite. It's cinnamon and lacked fluffiness and flavor. Service was okay.

We were staying at a nearby airbnb and ended up coming here for a late breakfast on a Friday morning. Arrived just before 10am and waited around 45 minutes for a table - we requested their outside dining and parties eating inside had a bit shorter of a wait time. They have a nice covered front porch that is half waiting area with benches and half their patio seating. It's covered with vines and plants making for a nice buffer from traffic on Folly Road.

Black Magic Cafe is a cute spot to grab a bite. Really colorful and inviting. It's pet friendly, which is completely awesome. I don't know about lizards or birds but definitely dogs. The parking is a little on the tight side if they get busy but don't let that discourage you. Food was decent but not great. Drinks, however, were fantastic. I was in town for a mini vacation and noticed there was at least 1 other location so I'm sure they're all about the same. I'd probably return if I was in town again and maybe sit inside next time instead of the patio.

Small, eclectic cafe off the highway that gives major Silver Lake vibes. Came here on a Sunday afternoon in a group of six and got seated after a five minute wait. We sat outside but there's plenty of indoor seating as well. There's a small parking lot adjacent to the restaurant and there are gender neutral bathrooms with grab bars available.
The staff was nice and took our drink orders once we were seated. While the cocktails were good, you don't really get a buzz. The Irish coffee wasn't strong and the cider mimosa just tasted like apple cider. The food took about 30 minutes
