Not the best vegan food, but also not the worst. Gnome Cafe offers a fully plant-based menu that range from hearty and savory to light and sweet.
My husband had a breakfast sandwich, which was okay. I had a parfait of some sort (maybe it was the granola option?), which was really tasty but it wasn't anything I couldn't put together at home.
The service is meh--not or .
Overall, this place is A-OK, and a cute little spot if you're looking for something to grab and go.

The grit bowl was tasty and my mom enjoyed her veggie burger. But the (customer) service is mediocre at best. The guy that took our order was not very friendly. And for your first impression, I would think you want this person to be customer focused. (Read my review for a neighborhood lunch spot, Halo, that has impeccable service!!!)
This place is meh! I expected and hoped for more. Twice is enough for me to give this place a fair chance.

Food was amazing! Came here for breakfast and everything was great .. except for the cinnamon roll which was ... Salty?? Like a pretzel? That had to have been a mistake because everything else was so good. The cinnamon roll texture and flavor (if you could ignore the salt) was great, but unfortunately the saltines made it inedible, which was such a bummer.

Where are the gnomes? I was expecting it to be decorated with gnomes, but there were none in sight. I paid $30 for a veggie burger, fries, almond butter and strawberry jam bagel, bottled drink and a coffee. The food was delicious. The bathroom was cute and smelled nice with the fresh cut pine they had in a vase.

They were very friendly and welcoming. The owner was sweet as pie! The place was clean and the food was delicious. I had the cheese burger with fries about $17. It’s was well worth it. Tip: Ask for extra sauce on the burger. I will return to eat there again! Next time I’ll Add photos. Oh I don’t know who’s lieing about parking there is none you have to park somewhere and walk to the eatery. Just FYI but hey who doesn’t need a little exercise 😂😂😂 I enjoyed my walk and my food.

Gnome is in Downtown Charleston near MUSC. It is easy to find. On a corner. It's small as the photos show. There were lots of people getting take out or ordered ahead. I had the vegan burger. It was great! Gnome costs little more than fast food, but so much better, healthy, and freshly made. I will definitely stop by again the next time I'm in the area!

First stop on a rainy day in Charleston. My boyfriend has celiac so we chose this cafe for their gluten free cinnamon pancakes. He said they were delicious! I had a tofu scramble with grits and "bacon." The bacon is actually mushroom and it's got a great almost bacon-y flavor. The place is I think all or mostly vegan so no actual meat or cheese that I could see. The scramble was very good. Well seasoned and super filling. Our coffees were also very good. Service was fast & friendly.

Breakfast burrito (add hemp sausage) was delicious! I probably would have preferred it with more sauce inside though they do give you ketchup and hot sauce on the side.
The sausage biscuit was a bit disappointing, it was kind of bland and dry and came by itself... Again a sauce would have taken it to a different level because it comes with just pepper jelly.
Coffee with hemp milk was great!
All in all would definitely visit again :)

A little pricey, but in line with what you would expect from a vegan place. More concerning was the paper taped on the price board. Costs are going and owners seem comfortable raising prices despite the brand risk. Making this place a family favorite is going to deal damage to your wallet.

My boyfriend and I were in town from LA and are pretty spoiled by the abundance of vegan food we have access to. We were THRILLED to find Gnome Cafe to keep us fed on our visit. We tried the bagel sandwich, breakfast burrito, an iced coffee, and a cortado. Everything was super delicious and the staff was awesome. Highly recommend to vegans and non-vegans alike. Thanks for the hospitality and great eats!!

Ordered online so I could grab a healthier lunch than the hospital chick fil a between class. Opted for the "tuna salad" sandwich. Ordered online for pick up in 20 mins and it was ready in 10. Overall the sandwich was good and I feel like appropriately priced. I don't think it tasted like tuna and I could definitely taste the garbanzo beans, which I enjoyed. The filling was light and balanced well by the buttery bread. Kept me full for a long while as well. Not the best sandwich I've ever had, but would definitely order again! The cafe itself

Everything we had from Gnome cafe was really tasty. We had the Southern Grits, Cinnamon Pancakes, the Bagel Breakfast sandwich, BLT, fried tofu, hemp sausage biscuit and a side of Brussels. The dishes were seasoned nearly to perfection! We ordered to-go and walked about 20 minutes to pick up the order.
However, I'm going with 4 stars because my order was missing a couple of things (sausage biscuit and a side of comeback sauce) and I didn't realize it until I got all the way home. So I had to walk 20 minutes back to Gnome for the rest of my order. At first they didn't seem to believe

This place is a 10/10 goldmine for delicious vegan breakfast! I haven't had anything I didn't like here. I usually place my order online for quick pick up or even if I plan on eating there. I usually get a cinnamon roll too, if they're not sold out. Trust me, you want the cinnamon roll, it's the best one I have ever had. My favs from there is the bagel sandwich ADD the hot jelly, the rueben Sammy, the grit bowl, and their ranch! Such a cute place with a great environment!! I have brought non-vegans here and they LOVE IT!

Gnome cafe is an all plant based restaurant near the MUSC hospital area. EVERYTHING is plant based, and all the recipes are very creative to emulate animal products.
There are a few tables outside on the sidewalk and there is a very cute dining area inside. Although the place is rather small, there is a quick turnaround for tables and we have never had to wait long to get seated.
I really enjoy the fried 'sort of chicken'. sandwich buffalo style , and I cannot stop eating the delicious french fries.

Can't believe it's taken me this long to try Gnome Cafe! I'm always curious about plant-based alternatives, so I was excited to try. I've seen people post about their portobello bacon, so I had to get an item featuring that. I went for the breakfast sandwich that has portobello "bacon," tofu scramble, and "cheddar."

Ordered the breakfast bagel, but subbed biscuit for bagel and hemp sausage for the bacon. I also had a side of Brussels sprouts. The breakfast sandwich was alright. Pretty bland and quite salty. The Brussels sprouts though - holy cow those were delicious! Would order those many times over again.
It does get a bit crowded at lunchtime, which caused some confusion at the door. Ordering online is recommended because then you can just grab and go!

Amazing vegan food. Well it is amazing whether you're a vegan or not! Huge fan of the "chicken" seitan sandwich. Absolutely delicious. The fries and the green smoothie were also really tasty. I tried the BLT with mushrooms, also very good! High quality food, great taste, and friendly staff. The outdoor seating is great on a sunny day, or to go is available. Highly recommend even if you aren't "sure" about vegan food :) They make delicious meals!

Ordered BLT with sausage and late and coffee and it was all very good. The people are nice and the place has good vibes. They take their vegan business seriously - no whole milk offered. I’m not a vegan but loved it here. They have a cool water bottle filling station in the restaurant too. Come check these guys out! Sending love from Connecticut!

We decided to take a little vacation to Charleston this week and are staying in an AirBnB next door at the Parson's Inn (also recommend). So we obviously had to try the Gnome Café right next door! We aren't vegan but can I just say that this was probably one of my favorite breakfast sandwiches I've ever had! My boyfriend and I both got the Bagel Sandwich with tofu scramble, portobello "bacon" and a cheddar cheese alternative. We both highly recommend this! It was amazing! We also got an iced americano, iced coffee, and a biscuit and fruit cup on the side.

We are in town for a few days and are staying next door at Parson Inn so as opposed to going with the Keurig machine here, I needed some Americano action instead.
As I type, this I just finished my 2nd visit here and again ordered an Iced Americano. It was great! Yesterday's B-Fast was their burrito with Hemp Sausage. It was really good but I'll pass on the hemp sausage next time as it really did have flavor to it. Today's was their Cinnamon Roll and that was the winner between the two!
Too bad the full cafe wasn't open b/c of this damn Pandemic!!!

They are operating with strict precautions; they have you picking up food but won't go near you to take an order in person so you have to do it online, which was a hassle that I had to try several different apps for before Doordash finally worked. They had a couple of tables outside (with signs to indicate whether they'd been sanitized). Given that the place is next to a hospital, caution makes sense.
